Alhadji Mohamadou Abbo fait partie des plus grands entrepreneurs camerounais de la première heure. Comme ses compères de l’époque, ses débuts ressemblent bien à un conte de fée, pourtant c’est à force de travail et du sens de l’investissement que ce baron a pu bâtir son empire.

C’est en 1936 qu’Alhadji Mohamadou Abbo Ousmanou voit le jour dans le département de la Vina dans le Nord Cameroun. Très tôt, il perd son père et comme de nombreux cas, il doit se lancer très jeune dans la vie active pour subvenir à ses besoins et ceux de ses proches.
C’est ainsi qu’à 12 ans le jeune Mohamadou devient motoboy auprès d’un transporteur. Quelques années plus tard, en 1956 il obtient son permis de conduire et devient chauffeur principal dans le transport en commun pour le compte d’Alhadji Mohamadou Pantani à Garoua.

En homme ambitieux, il ne se contente pas de son salaire de transporteur et grâce à ses économies, il se lance en parallèle dans le commerce, plus tard il obtiendra un prêt bancaire pour acheter son premier car de transport.

Au fil des années, le fils de N’Gaoundéré va bâtir sa fortune petit à petit entre commerces de bétail, commerce général, agriculture, transport, tourisme, industrie entre autres.
Alhadji Abbo est l’un des plus grands producteurs de maïs du Cameroun à travers son entreprise Maïscam. Il est également présent dans le tourisme avec son hôtel le relais St Hubert de Garoua. Il est présent dans le transport dans toutes les régions du septentrion du Cameroun.

Il est également propriétaire d’un des plus grands ranchs du Cameroun le ranch AMOA qui compte plus de 10 000 têtes de bovins. Le grand Alhadji Mohamadou Abbo est également à la tête du conseil d’administration de la société sucrière NOSUCA.

Alhadji Mohamadou Abbo c’est aussi un homme d’affaires qui sait se faire plaisir. Il est propriétaire d’un impressionnant château bâtit sur plus de 3 hectares dans la ville de N’Gaoundéré. Celui qui n’a jamais voulu faire l’école des blancs est par ailleurs très instruit, il parle et écrit le français et l’anglais. Aujourd’hui il est considéré comme une des plus grandes fortunes du Cameroun.

La vérité est que cette fortune s’est construite pendant plus de 60 ans. La vision, le travail et l’ambition ont beaucoup apporté à Alhadji ABO qui est père de 36 enfants pour 4 femmes. À plus de 80 ans, il  a des raisons  de se réjouir de son parcours et de toutes ses réalisations.

In 1956, he obtained his driving license and became a chief driver in the public transport sector for businessman Alhadji Mohamadou Pantani in Garoua. While many would have remained satisfied with a stable salary, Abbo had bigger dreams.

Using his savings, he ventured into small-scale trading while continuing his transport activities. Eventually, he secured a bank loan to purchase his very first passenger transport bus — a turning point that would change the course of his life forever.

Over more than six decades, Alhadji Mohamadou Abbo patiently expanded his investments into several strategic sectors including livestock trading, general commerce, agriculture, transportation, tourism and industry.

His influence also extends into tourism through the famous Relais St Hubert Hotel in Garoua, while his transport operations serve several regions across northern Cameroon.

Another pillar of his fortune is livestock farming. Abbo owns one of the country’s largest cattle ranches, the AMOA Ranch, which reportedly houses more than 10,000 heads of cattle.
