Gagnant-gagnant pour les deux pays
Si la RDC y gagnera en compétitivité avec des coûts de fret réduits, le Cameroun, lui, engrangera des recettes supplémentaires via les droits de transit. Une synergie renforcée par la récente visite du MSC Turkiye, plus grand porte-conteneurs du monde, à Kribi le 8 mai 2025, confirmant le statut du port comme hub logistique majeur en Afrique centrale.
Prochaines étapes : une visite terrain à Kribi
Auguste Mbappe Penda a proposé une visite aux autorités congolaises pour échanger avec les acteurs camerounais du commerce extérieur et inspecter les infrastructures portuaires. « Nous mobiliserons toutes les instances pour concrétiser ce projet », a assuré l’ambassadeur congolais.
Une initiative qui s’inscrit dans une dynamique régionale de facilitation des échanges et d’intégration économique.

The goal? To fast-track the operationalization of the Kribi-Zongo corridor, a promising trade route linking the DRC to Cameroon’s deep-sea port of Kribi via the Central African Republic.
A High-Stakes Economic Project
Facing logistical challenges in the northern DRC, this corridor aims to streamline the export of key raw materials (timber, manganese, gold, cobalt) through Kribi’s port—a critical solution for the DRC, where poor road networks hinder domestic freight movement.
A Win-Win for Both Nations
While the DRC will benefit from reduced shipping costs, Cameroon stands to gain additional revenue through transit fees. The project gains further momentum after Kribi Port recently hosted the world’s largest container ship, the MSC Turkiye, on May 8, 2025, cementing its role as a regional logistics hub.
Next Steps: A Field Visit to Kribi
Auguste Mbappe Penda proposed an upcoming visit for Congolese officials to meet Cameroonian trade stakeholders and assess port facilities. "We will mobilize all relevant parties to make this project a reality," pledged the Congolese diplomat.
This initiative aligns with broader regional efforts to enhance trade facilitation and economic integration in Central Africa.
