As opposed to last year when Coton Sport emerged champion with about ten days to go to the end of the season thereby exercising complete hegemony over the championship, the colossus from the North Region are given a real run for their money this year. With barely three days to go to the end of the championship, Coton Sport and Union of Douala are running neck to neck at the helm of the point tally sheet though with Coton Sport having a narrow edge over the Kamaikai. melbet connexion

Thanks to their 3-1 victory over Astres on the 31st day of play this weekend, Coton Sport conserved the top seat with 58 points. Their closest challenger, Union also obtained a 1-0 victory over Canon to keep turning the heat on the league leaders.

While Coton Sport and Union jostle for the prestige and prize money of league champions, News Stars and Botafogo in the third and fourth positions respectively, are equally engaged in the contention for continental spots next year. Both teams have 53 points each and are merely separated by goal difference as News Stars has nine more goals than Botafogo. Apejes and Panthere in the 5th and 6th positions respectively are not left out from the contention for continental spots but their chances grow slimmer by the day.

Meanwhile, at the bottom of the table, Canon sunk further down the drain and are now at the edge of the precipice as they occupy the last position before the relegation line after suffering an umpteenth defeat against the runners up, Union over the weekend.  The die is already cast for Tonnerre and the 0-3 bashing received from Yong Sports was of no significance to the club from Yaounde but for Yong Sport which was propelled higher on the league table.

Njalla Quan remains stagnating in the relegation zone despite obtaining a zero-all tie against New Stars. Fovu further jeopardise their chances of survival in the first division by conceding a 0-2 to Botafogo.  With suck stakes up for play, the end of the season is going to be palpitating as the suspense will drag on till the last blast of the whistle.
