Cameroonian Lions Roar Abroad: Aboubakar and Soni Deliver Crucial Wins in Turkey and the UAE
The Indomitable Lions keep roaring far from home! Over the weekend of October 17-18, 2026, two Cameroonian strikers reminded the football world that Cameroonian talent never fades, even at club level. Vincent Aboubakar and Kevin Soni each delivered a precious victory for their respective teams, making Cameroonian football shine simultaneously in Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
First, the experienced captain. At 34, Vincent Aboubakar once again proved he remains a lethal predator. Playing for Bodrumspor FK (Bodrum FK), the former Porto, Be?ikta? and Cameroon national team striker helped defeat Band?rmaspor 2-1 on Matchday 11 of the Turkish second division (Trendyol 1. Lig). After falling behind 0-1 in the 57th minute, Bodrum equalized through Ege Bilsel (68’) before Aboubakar sealed the win with the decisive goal in the 71st minute. It was a second consecutive victory for the Aegean club, and another goal for the Cameroonian, who now has 4 goals in 7 appearances this season. The former captain of the Indomitable Lions continues to write his legend with goals and assists. At an age when many slow down, he keeps accelerating.
On the other side of the world, another Lion made his mark. Kevin Soni, 28, shone with Al Jazira Al Hamra in the UAE’s second division. The Cameroonian forward secured a valuable 2-1 victory for his side against Al-Dhaid on Matchday 7 of the league. In excellent form since joining the club, Soni already has 3 goals in 3 league matches, plus a brace in the cup. Trained in Europe and having played in several countries (Spain, Greece, Israel, Romania, Bolivia…), the Douala-born striker has rediscovered a sharp goalscoring rhythm under the Emirati sun. A player who has always known how to bounce back and prove his worth.
Two matches, two wins, two decisive Cameroonians. Aboubakar, the wise veteran still guiding his team to goals, and Soni, the sharp hunter scoring every time he plays. That is the spirit of the Lions at club level: no matter the country or the division, Cameroonian talent imposes itself.
Cameroonian fans can be proud. While the national team prepares for its next challenges, these two remind everyone that the talent pool remains deep and that the Lions’ jersey continues to inspire even thousands of kilometres away. Aboubakar and Soni are not just playing — they are winning, scoring, and making Cameroon shine.
