Après les premiers matchs disputés jeudi, les éliminatoires de la CAN 2027 passent à la vitesse supérieure ce vendredi 25 septembre 2026. Au total, 14 rencontres sont programmées à travers le continent, avec notamment Mozambique-Sénégal, Maroc-Gabon, Nigeria-Madagascar, Égypte-Angola, Algérie-Zambie et Mali-Cap-Vert.

La course à la CAN 2027 continue ce vendredi avec une journée particulièrement chargée. Pas moins de 14 affiches figurent au programme de la première journée des éliminatoires.

Les grandes nations africaines entrent progressivement en scène, avec notamment le Sénégal, le Maroc, le Nigeria, l'Égypte, l'Algérie et le Mali.

Mozambique-Sénégal, premier gros rendez-vous

La journée démarre à 13h00 GMT avec une affiche très attendue entre le Mozambique et le Sénégal.

Les Lions de la Teranga lancent leur campagne de qualification à Maputo, avec l'ambition de réussir leur entrée en matière. Face à eux, les Mambas veulent profiter de leur public pour bousculer la hiérarchie.

Cette rencontre marque également le début de la campagne de Patrick Vieira à la tête du Sénégal.

À partir de 16h00 GMT, la journée s'accélère avec cinq rencontres.

Le Malawi affronte le Soudan du Sud, tandis que la Gambie et la Somalie se retrouvent dans une confrontation historique entre les deux sélections.

Le Togo accueille ensuite le Burundi au stade de Kégué. Les Éperviers veulent profiter de leur public pour réussir leur entrée dans ces éliminatoires.

Le programme comprend également Rwanda-Liberia et Nigeria-Madagascar.

À 19h00 GMT, le Maroc accueille le Gabon au complexe Prince Moulay Abdallah.

Les Lions veulent démarrer leur campagne par une victoire devant leur public. Le Gabon, désormais dirigé par Sébastien Migné, entend de son côté lancer une nouvelle dynamique après plusieurs déceptions et la retraite internationale de Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Cette rencontre constitue l'une des principales affiches de la journée.

L'Égypte face à l'Angola

À la même heure, l'Égypte entre également en scène face à l'Angola.

Les Pharaons veulent réussir leur première sortie dans cette campagne qualificative, tandis que l'Angola cherchera à réaliser une performance positive.

Toujours à 19h00 GMT, le Burkina Faso affronte le Bénin.

Une journée XXL pour les éliminatoires

Avec 14 rencontres au programme, ce vendredi constitue l'une des journées les plus denses de cette première phase des éliminatoires de la CAN 2027.

Le public africain aura notamment les yeux tournés vers Maputo, Rabat, Lagos, Le Caire, Alger et Bamako, où plusieurs sélections importantes vont effectuer leur entrée en lice.

AFCON 2027 Qualifiers: Morocco-Gabon and Senegal-Mozambique headline Friday’s action

The AFCON 2027 qualifiers continue on Friday, September 25, with several interesting fixtures across the continent. Morocco host Gabon, Senegal travel to Mozambique, while Togo welcome Burundi. Gambia and Somalia will also meet for the first official time at senior level.

The race for a place at the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations continues after the opening matches played on Thursday.

Several major African teams enter the competition on Friday, with Morocco and Senegal among the teams attracting the most attention.

Morocco vs Gabon: Lions face rebuilding Panthers

The Prince Moulay Abdallah Complex will host one of Friday’s main fixtures.

Morocco take on Gabon at 19:00 GMT in the first round of the AFCON 2027 qualifiers.

The Atlas Lions will be looking to start their campaign with a victory and establish themselves immediately in the group.

Gabon, however, arrive with a different objective.

The Panthers are beginning a new chapter under coach Sébastien Migné following Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s international retirement and recent disappointments on the international stage.

Two different projects

The match will also be a tactical battle between two coaches with different challenges.

Morocco coach Mohamed Ouahbi is looking to rely on young talents to ensure continuity.

Sébastien Migné, meanwhile, has the task of rebuilding Gabon, particularly in the attacking department.

Kick-off: 19:00 GMT.

Mozambique vs Senegal: Teranga Lions begin campaign

Another major fixture sees Mozambique host Senegal.

The match will be played at the Estádio Nacional do Zimpeto in Maputo, with kick-off scheduled for 13:00 GMT.

Senegal are in Group J and will be looking to make a strong start to their qualifying campaign.

However, Mozambique are expected to provide a difficult challenge on home soil.

The Mambas will rely on their home support and physical approach as they attempt to produce an early surprise against the Senegalese side.

The match also represents Patrick Vieira’s first campaign match as Senegal head coach.

Togo vs Burundi: Éperviers seek a return to the AFCON

At 16:00 GMT, Togo host Burundi at Kégué Stadium.

For the Éperviers, this is about more than simply collecting three points.

Togo have missed several recent editions of the Africa Cup of Nations and are looking to rebuild confidence in front of their supporters.

Captain Djéné Dakonam will be expected to provide leadership, while Kévin Denkey and Fodoh Laba will carry much of the attacking responsibility.

Young players including Karim Dermane and Kevin Boma will also be closely watched.

Burundi, however, will not travel to Lomé simply to defend. The Hirondelles will be looking for a positive result away from home.

Gambia vs Somalia: a historic first

The meeting between Gambia and Somalia will be particularly significant.

The two senior national teams have never officially faced each other before.

Their September 25 encounter will therefore be the first official senior international meeting between the two countries.

Gambia qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in March 2021, following a decisive victory over Angola in Bakau.

Somalia have also recently reached a historic milestone, advancing to the group stage of the AFCON qualifiers for the first time after eliminating Mauritius on penalties.

Four matches, four different challenges

Friday’s programme therefore offers four distinct storylines.

Morocco will look to start strongly against a rebuilding Gabon side. Senegal face a challenging away trip to Mozambique. Togo want to reconnect with their supporters against Burundi, while Gambia and Somalia will make history with their first official senior meeting.
