La Coupe du monde U17 s’annonce comme un véritable révélateur pour plusieurs sélections africaines. Parmi elles, le Mozambique et l’Ouganda s’apprêtent à vivre la première participation mondiale de leur histoire dans cette catégorie, tandis que l’Égypte retrouve la scène planétaire pour la troisième fois.

Le Mozambique face à un baptême du feu musclé

Le Mozambique a dû aller chercher son billet pour la Coupe du monde U17 au terme d’un barrage particulièrement disputé contre l’Éthiopie. Les jeunes Mozambicains ont finalement fait la différence aux tirs au but, validant ainsi une qualification historique.

Pour leur première apparition à ce niveau, les joueurs dirigés par Manuel Correira n’ont pas été épargnés par le tirage. Ils retrouveront notamment l’Argentine, une nation habituée aux grandes joutes internationales et toujours à la recherche d’un premier sacre mondial dans cette catégorie.

Mais avant de penser aux Argentins, le Mozambique devra négocier un premier rendez-vous délicat contre le Danemark. La discipline et la solidité collective des jeunes Danois constitueront un premier test grandeur nature.

Les Mozambicains termineront ensuite leur phase de groupes face à l’Australie. Trois matches pour mesurer immédiatement le potentiel de cette génération.

L’Ouganda, une première historique avec les Cubs

Autre nouveau venu : l’Ouganda. Les Cubs vont découvrir pour la première fois l’ambiance d’une phase finale de Coupe du monde U17.

La qualification a été arrachée face au Ghana, à l’issue d’une séance de tirs au but électrique. Une performance qui témoigne du caractère de cette jeune équipe ougandaise.

Des joueurs comme Arafat Ibanda et Owen Mukisa portent notamment les espoirs de tout un football qui entend profiter de cette première expérience mondiale pour franchir un nouveau cap.

L’Ouganda a hérité du groupe B, où l’attendent la Corée du Sud, l’Équateur et la Nouvelle-Calédonie. Sur le papier, Sud-Coréens et Équatoriens apparaissent comme les adversaires les plus redoutables. Mais les Cubs disposent d'une véritable carte à jouer.

Le calendrier ne leur fera toutefois aucun cadeau. L’Ouganda commencera directement contre la Corée du Sud avant d’enchaîner avec l’Équateur. Le dernier match contre la Nouvelle-Calédonie pourrait alors prendre une importance capitale dans la course à la qualification.

L’Égypte veut enfin retrouver les quarts de finale

Contrairement au Mozambique et à l’Ouganda, l’Égypte connaît déjà la Coupe du monde U17. Les jeunes Pharaons vont participer à leur troisième édition.

Placée dans le groupe A, l’Égypte croisera le fer avec la Grèce, le Qatar, pays hôte, et le Panama.

Le groupe paraît particulièrement ouvert. Aucun adversaire ne semble disposer d’un statut de favori incontestable, ce qui laisse aux Égyptiens une belle opportunité de viser la qualification.

Le Qatar pourra compter sur le soutien de son public et nourrira logiquement l’ambition de franchir le premier tour. Mais les jeunes Pharaons veulent également jouer leur carte à fond.

L’objectif est clair : mettre fin à une longue attente et retrouver au moins les quarts de finale, une performance que l’Égypte n’a plus réalisée depuis 1997.

Pour y parvenir, la sélection pourra notamment compter sur son gardien Mohamed Obeid, ainsi que sur Ahmed Beshir et Amir Abou El Ezz.

Uganda Make History with the Cubs

Uganda will also make history at the tournament. The Cubs are set to play at the U17 World Cup for the first time, bringing enormous expectations for a new generation of Ugandan footballers.

Their qualification was secured against Ghana, with Uganda prevailing after a dramatic penalty shootout. The performance demonstrated the mental strength of a team determined to seize its historic opportunity.

Egypt, however, have every reason to be ambitious.

The young Pharaohs are hoping to break a long-standing drought and reach at least the quarter-finals, a stage they have not reached since 1997.

Among the players expected to play an important role are goalkeeper Mohamed Obeid, Ahmed Beshir and Amir Abou El Ezz.

Egypt will enter the competition on the opening day, facing Greece before taking on hosts Qatar. They will complete the group stage against Panama.
