Mohamed Salah fait déjà exploser Trabzonspor, Idrissa Gana Gueye et Chancel Mbemba animent le mercato

Alors que Mohamed Salah provoque déjà un véritable séisme commercial en Turquie avec Trabzonspor, Idrissa Gana Gueye a choisi l’Arabie saoudite pour poursuivre sa carrière. Dans le même temps, Chancel Mbemba a signé des débuts remarqués sous ses nouvelles couleurs. Trois trajectoires, trois choix forts et un mercato qui continue de faire parler.
Mohamed Salah, un transfert qui rapporte déjà gros à Trabzonspor
Mohamed Salah n’a pas encore disputé son premier grand rendez-vous officiel avec Trabzonspor que son arrivée produit déjà des effets spectaculaires.
Le président du club turc, Ertugrul Dogan, a affirmé que le recrutement de l’ancien attaquant de Liverpool avait immédiatement dopé les ventes d’abonnements. Selon le dirigeant, 18 000 abonnements auraient été vendus en seulement trois jours après l’annonce de l’arrivée de la star égyptienne.
Le calcul est simple pour Trabzonspor. Le club aurait besoin de vendre 7 000 abonnements supplémentaires pour atteindre la barre des 25 000 et, selon Dogan, couvrir intégralement le coût de l’opération Salah.
Une performance commerciale qui donne une autre dimension à ce transfert. Présenté comme le joueur le mieux payé de Turquie, Salah ne représente donc pas uniquement un investissement sportif. Son immense popularité pourrait également constituer une formidable source de revenus pour Trabzonspor.
L’ancien joueur de Liverpool a d’ailleurs été accueilli comme une véritable superstar. À son arrivée en Turquie, une foule importante de supporters s’est mobilisée à l’aéroport avant de lui réserver un accueil triomphal au stade.
Une décision qui surprend Dean Saunders
Le choix de Mohamed Salah de rejoindre Trabzonspor ne fait cependant pas l’unanimité.
Dean Saunders, ancien attaquant de Liverpool et ex-joueur de la Süper Lig, s’est dit stupéfait par la décision de l’Égyptien. Pour lui, compte tenu de son statut et de son niveau, Salah aurait pu viser un projet encore plus prestigieux.
L’attaquant de 34 ans disposait pourtant d’autres possibilités. Il aurait notamment pu poursuivre son aventure à Liverpool, avec qui son contrat courait jusqu’en 2027. Les deux parties ont finalement convenu qu’une séparation était préférable.
Al-Ittihad avait également manifesté son intérêt et aurait été en mesure de proposer des conditions financières encore plus importantes. Salah a néanmoins privilégié la poursuite de sa carrière en Europe.
Sur le terrain, Trabzonspor nourrit désormais de grandes ambitions. Troisième de Süper Lig la saison dernière, le club devra passer par un barrage afin d’accéder à la Ligue Europa. Après le sacre de Galatasaray, Trabzonspor rêve également de jouer les premiers rôles dans la course au titre.
L’effet Salah devra donc rapidement se traduire sur la pelouse.
Idrissa Gana Gueye choisit Al-Diriyah
Autre figure majeure du football africain à changer de décor : Idrissa Gana Gueye.
À 36 ans, l’international sénégalais s’est officiellement engagé ce dimanche 9 août avec Al-Diriyah, club récemment promu dans l’élite saoudienne.
Libre après la fin de son contrat avec Everton, le milieu de terrain a signé pour une saison, avec une année supplémentaire en option.
Cette nouvelle aventure marque la fin d’un chapitre anglais entamé avec Everton lors de la saison 2022-2023. Gueye apporte à Al-Diriyah une expérience considérable, lui qui compte 135 sélections et 7 buts avec le Sénégal et a notamment participé à la Coupe du monde.
Le Sénégalais devient ainsi la troisième recrue étrangère confirmée par le club récemment promu.
Son expérience, son volume de jeu et son vécu au plus haut niveau seront particulièrement scrutés dans un championnat saoudien qui continue d’attirer des joueurs expérimentés du football mondial.
Chancel Mbemba frappe déjà fort en Arabie saoudite
À Al-Diriyah, un autre visage africain s’est déjà illustré.
Chancel Mbemba a effectué des débuts particulièrement convaincants sous ses nouvelles couleurs. Aligné d’entrée lors d’une rencontre amicale contre Al Kholood, le capitaine des Léopards de la RDC a immédiatement pris ses responsabilités au cœur de la défense.
Solide dans les duels, appliqué dans ses relances et concentré dans son placement, le défenseur congolais a rapidement affiché les qualités qui ont construit sa réputation.
Al-Diriyah s’est finalement imposé 3-1, avec Mbemba à la manœuvre dans une défense qui a affiché une réelle maîtrise.
Cette première sortie est forcément encourageante pour le club saoudien. Le capitaine de la RDC semble déjà avoir trouvé ses repères dans son nouvel environnement et entend bien devenir l’un des patrons de cette équipe.
Le mercato africain prend une nouvelle dimension
Entre la puissance commerciale de Mohamed Salah en Turquie, l’expérience d’Idrissa Gana Gueye en Arabie saoudite et les débuts rassurants de Chancel Mbemba, les internationaux africains occupent encore une place de choix dans le mercato.

Mohamed Salah already paying off for Trabzonspor
Mohamed Salah has yet to play his first major competitive match for Trabzonspor, but his arrival is already producing remarkable commercial results.
Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan claimed that the Egyptian superstar's arrival has immediately boosted season-ticket sales. According to the club president, 18,000 season tickets were sold in just three days following the announcement of Salah's signing.
Trabzonspor would reportedly need another 7,000 sales to reach the 25,000 mark. Dogan believes that reaching that figure would allow the club to fully cover the financial cost of signing Salah.
The transfer therefore goes beyond the sporting dimension. Salah, reportedly the highest-paid player in Turkey, is already proving to be a major commercial attraction for Trabzonspor.
The Egyptian forward also received a spectacular welcome upon his arrival in Turkey. Large numbers of supporters gathered at the airport before continuing the celebrations at the club's stadium.
Dean Saunders questions Salah's decision
Not everyone has been convinced by Salah's decision to join Trabzonspor.
Former Liverpool striker Dean Saunders, who also played in the Turkish Süper Lig, was reportedly stunned by the move. He believes that a player of Salah's stature could have targeted an even bigger project.
The 34-year-old could have remained at Liverpool, with his contract running until 2027. However, both parties reportedly agreed that the time had come to end their relationship.
Saudi giants Al-Ittihad were also interested and could have offered Salah an even bigger salary. The Egyptian nevertheless chose to remain in Europe.
Trabzonspor finished third in the Turkish league last season and will have to win a play-off to reach the Europa League this campaign. The club also hopes to challenge for the Turkish title after Galatasaray's recent triumph.
The pressure is now on Salah to turn the excitement surrounding his arrival into performances on the pitch.
Idrissa Gana Gueye joins Al-Diriyah
Another African football heavyweight has also made a major move.
At 36, Idrissa Gana Gueye has officially joined Saudi club Al-Diriyah.
The Senegal international was a free agent after leaving Everton, where he had played since the 2022/23 season. He has signed a one-year contract with an option for an additional season.
Gueye brings considerable experience to the recently promoted Saudi side. The midfielder has made 135 appearances for Senegal, scoring seven goals, and has also represented his country at the FIFA World Cup.
He becomes the third confirmed foreign signing for Al-Diriyah.
His experience at the highest level could prove valuable as the club prepares for its new challenge in the Saudi top flight.
Chancel Mbemba makes an immediate impact
Al-Diriyah have also already seen what Chancel Mbemba can bring to the team.
The DR Congo captain made his first appearance for the club in a friendly against Al Kholood, starting in central defence and immediately taking command of the back line.
Strong in challenges, composed in possession and disciplined defensively, Mbemba delivered a confident performance.
Al-Diriyah eventually secured a 3-1 victory, with the Congolese defender playing an important role in the team's defensive organization.
His first outing offers plenty of encouragement as he begins his new chapter in Saudi Arabia.
