Osimhen omniprésent, le Nigeria impose le tempo
Dès l’entame, le Nigeria affiche ses intentions. À la 11e minute, Victor Osimhen se démarque parfaitement sur corner mais manque de peu le cadre. Sept minutes plus tard, l’attaquant nigérian croit ouvrir le score, avant que le drapeau du hors-jeu ne refroidisse l’enthousiasme.
Dominants dans le jeu et agressifs dans les duels, les Super Eagles finissent par être récompensés juste avant la pause. Au retour des vestiaires, le Nigeria accélère. À la 50e minute, un corner parfaitement exécuté permet à Wilfred Ndidi d’inscrire le deuxième but d’une tête autoritaire (2-0).
La Tunisie vacille. À la 67e minute, Ademola Lookman conclut une action collective par une frappe précise, aidée par le montant, portant le score à 3-0. À ce moment-là, les Super Eagles semblent avoir plié le match.
La Tunisie réagit, mais trop tard
Dos au mur, les Aigles de Carthage retrouvent de l’orgueil. À la 74e minute, Hannibal Mejbri dépose un coup franc sur la tête de Montassar Talbi, qui réduit l’écart (3-1).
La tension monte encore à la 87e minute. Suite à une main de Bright Osayi-Samuel, Ali Abdi transforme le penalty et ramène la Tunisie à 3-2. Malgré cette fin de match sous pression, le Nigeria tient bon jusqu’au coup de sifflet final.
Qualification méritée pour les Super Eagles
Ce succès confirme la montée en puissance du Nigeria, qualifié avant l’heure pour les huitièmes de finale de la CAN 2025 au Maroc. Une performance qui ne laissera pas indifférents les observateurs camerounais, alors que la compétition entre favoris s’intensifie.

Nigeria produced a thrilling performance to defeat Tunisia 3–2 on Matchday 2 of AFCON 2025 at the Stade de Fès, securing early qualification for the Round of 16. In an entertaining contest packed with intensity and drama, the Super Eagles confirmed their status as one of the tournament’s strongest contenders.
Osimhen Sets the Tone
Nigeria started aggressively and nearly took the lead in the 11th minute when Victor Osimhen rose highest to meet a corner, sending his header just over the bar. Seven minutes later, Osimhen found the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
After dominating possession and chances throughout the first half, Nigeria finally broke through just before halftime. In the 45th minute, Ademola Lookman sprinted to the byline and delivered a pinpoint cross. Osimhen timed his jump perfectly and powered a close-range header into the right side of the net, giving Nigeria a 1–0 lead at the break.
Ndidi and Lookman Extend the Lead
Nigeria returned from halftime with renewed intensity. In the 50th minute, a well-taken corner allowed Wilfred Ndidi to rise at the penalty spot and head decisively into the bottom right corner for 2–0.
Tunisia struggled to cope, and Nigeria struck again in the 67th minute. After a slick attacking move, Ademola Lookman unleashed a fine strike that clipped the post on its way into the left corner, making it 3–0.
Late Tunisian Fightback
Despite trailing heavily, Tunisia showed resilience. In the 74th minute, Hannibal Mejbri delivered a dangerous free kick that was headed home by Montassar Talbi, reducing the deficit to 3–1.
Drama followed late on when Ali Abdi converted a penalty in the 87th minute, after a handball by Bright Osayi-Samuel, bringing the score to 3–2. Nigeria, however, held firm in the closing minutes to secure a deserved victory.
Nigeria Through, Tunisia Under Pressure
With this win, Nigeria officially book their place in the AFCON 2025 Round of 16, confirming their impressive form. Tunisia, meanwhile, are left under pressure heading into the final group match.
