L’Ivoirien Jean-Philippe Oka a marqué le tournoi de son empreinte. Élu MVP, meilleur marqueur à 2 points et membre du cinq majeur, il a porté les Eléphanteaux jusqu’au premier sacre de leur histoire. Une véritable étoile montante du basketball africain.
Cameroun : une tanière pleine de pépites
Le Cameroun, finaliste pour sa première participation, a aussi marqué les esprits. Deux Lionceaux se sont imposés comme références du tournoi :
Nolan Ngangmeni : élu meilleur tireur à 3 points, il termine aussi 5e meilleur scoreur du tournoi avec 98 points en 6 matchs. Auteur de 16,3 points, 6,7 rebonds et 2 passes de moyenne, il a notamment claqué 23 points face au Mali en demi-finale.
Olivier Ngoumou : couronné meilleur rebondeur, il a gobé 81 rebonds en 6 matchs (13,5 de moyenne), avec trois double-double à son actif. Il a notamment capté 17 rebonds en quarts de finale face à l’Ouganda et signé un 11 points – 11 rebonds en finale.
Tous deux intègrent logiquement le cinq majeur du tournoi, confirmant que le Cameroun est désormais une véritable terre de basket en devenir.

Afrobasket U16 Kigali 2025: Full Awards, Oka crowned MVP as Cameroon’s young Lions shine
The 2025 U16 Afrobasket in Kigali has come to an end after 12 thrilling days. Ivory Coast lifted the trophy after defeating Cameroon in the final (62-49), but the individual awards were shared between the two best teams of the tournament.
Jean-Philippe Oka, the MVP
Ivory Coast’s Jean-Philippe Oka dominated the stage, winning MVP, Best 2-Point Scorer, and earning a spot in the All-Tournament Team. He was the driving force behind the Elephanteaux’s historic first title.
Cameroon’s rising stars
Cameroon, finalists in their first-ever participation, also stole the spotlight:
Nolan Ngangmeni, crowned Best Three-Point Shooter, averaged 16.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2 assists, including a 23-point performance against Mali in the semifinal.
Olivier Ngoumou, named Best Rebounder, collected a stunning 81 rebounds across 6 games (13.5 average) with three double-doubles, including 17 boards against Uganda and 11 rebounds in the final.
Both were included in the All-Tournament Team, underlining Cameroon’s bright basketball future.
