2025 Presidential Election: Maurice Kamto Officially Endorsed by MANIDEM, Jean Michel Nintcheu Calls for Nationwide Mobilization
It's now official. Professor Maurice Kamto has been designated as the People’s Candidate for Change for the upcoming presidential election on October 12, 2025. He was formally endorsed by the African Movement for New Independence and Democracy (MANIDEM) following discreet but intense political negotiations.
During a fiery press briefing, Jean Michel Nintcheu — leader of the Front for Change in Cameroon (FCC) and interim coordinator of the Political Alliance for Change (APC) — saluted both the resilience of MANIDEM’s militants and the openness of the MRC, Kamto’s former party.
Nintcheu emphasized that the alliance was not built on financial or material gains, but on shared nationalist values and the urgent need to resist the tribalism that has tainted Cameroon’s political landscape. He recalled that both Kamto and Ekane witnessed the execution of nationalist Ernest Ouandié in 1971 and that both have endured political imprisonment under the Biya regime. “They are Ngatta Men,” he said — hardened by political persecution.
Nintcheu urged the population to mobilize, retrieve their voter cards, and stand firm against intimidation. He warned that ruling party officials had alluded to a military coup if Kamto were to be elected. His final rallying cry: “2025 is not 2018. The people are ready. Forward to victory!”
