Le programme de pré-saison des Mancuniens prévoit notamment des rencontres contre d’autres clubs de Premier League, avant un retour à Old Trafford le 9 août pour un dernier test contre la Fiorentina. Un match crucial à huit jours du grand rendez-vous : la première journée de Premier League face à Arsenal.
Mais selon les dernières informations, la présence du portier de 29 ans face aux Gunners semble hautement improbable. Un véritable casse-tête pour le nouvel entraîneur Rúben Amorim, qui comptait sur l’ancien de l’Ajax comme pièce maîtresse de son système défensif.
Le club anglais envisage, sans urgence, de recruter un nouveau gardien pour combler ce vide temporaire. Toutefois, la priorité du moment reste l’attaque, avec une offensive lancée pour attirer Bryan Mbeumo, l’ailier camerounais de Brentford. Celui-ci pourrait être le deuxième renfort offensif après l’arrivée de Matheus Cunha.
Mais avant toute nouvelle signature au poste de gardien, Manchester United devra faire de la place. Antony, Marcus Rashford et Jadon Sancho sont sur la sellette. Le mercato s’annonce donc agité à Old Trafford, alors que le Cameroun est à l’honneur des deux côtés du terrain.
Manchester United hit by Onana injury blow ahead of pre-season tour
Bad news for Manchester United fans. According to The Athletic, BBC Sport and The Telegraph, Cameroonian goalkeeper André Onana will miss the club’s pre-season matches due to a hamstring injury.
United are scheduled to play friendly matches in Sweden and the United States later this month, before hosting Fiorentina at Old Trafford on August 9 in their final pre-season match.
However, Onana’s chances of featuring in the Premier League opener against Arsenal eight days later are reportedly slim. New manager Rúben Amorim will have to rethink his plans, as the 29-year-old goalkeeper was expected to be a cornerstone of his lineup.
While Manchester United are not prioritizing the signing of a new goalkeeper, they are actively pursuing Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo — another Cameroonian international — who could follow Matheus Cunha as the club’s second attacking addition.
For now, any further signings will depend on the departures of Antony, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho.
