2025 Presidential Election: UNDP Drops a Bombshell, Bello Bouba Maigari Announces Candidate and Keeps Mum on Resignation!
Cameroonian politics has been rocked by a major announcement. This Saturday, during the UNDP’s central committee meeting at the Yaoundé Congress Hall, party leader Bello Bouba Maigari boldly declared that his party will field a candidate in the 2025 presidential election.
Facing a buzzing press corps, the former minister dismissed speculation about any restrictions tied to their agreement with the ruling CPDM (RDPC): "Not a single clause in our convention with the ruling party prevents us from presenting a presidential candidate," he asserted.
Yet, the suspense remains. When pressed about his possible resignation from the government, Bello Bouba Maigari dodged the question, refusing to comment. A move that fuels rumors of an imminent exit—or even a surprise candidacy.
In an already tense political climate, this statement opens a new battlefront. Could the UNDP, a long-time ally of the CPDM, become a serious challenger? Stay tuned for updates.
