Coup de théâtre à Bamendzi ! Programmée pour 14h00 ce mercredi 14 mai dans le cadre de la 23e journée du championnat MTN Élite One, la rencontre entre Yong Sports Academy de Bamenda et Fauve Azur Elite n’a tout simplement pas eu lieu. En cause : l’absence du club local, YOSA, qui ne s’est pas présenté au stade.
Une situation embarrassante, mais qui profite aux Fayaboys, déclarés vainqueurs par forfait (3-0). Si les supporters espéraient un vrai duel sur la pelouse, c’est bien la réalité administrative qui a tranché.
Gabriel Haman (Fauve Azur) : « On aurait préféré gagner sur le terrain »
À la fin de ce non-match, le coach principal de Fauve Azur, Gabriel Haman, a réagi avec lucidité :
« On a souhaité gagner sur le terrain mais cette victoire nous fait du bien car cela fait 10 jours qu'on n'a pas joué, ce qui était un peu embêtant pour nous. En attendant notre prochain match, cela fera peut-être 15 jours sans compétition, ce qui va nous pénaliser, mais on va se préparer en conséquence. »
Toujours dans l’optique de maintenir ses joueurs compétitifs, le technicien annonce un match amical dès le lendemain pour compenser ce manque de rythme. Quant à l’absence de YOSA, il préfère rester diplomate :
« Les équipes ont leurs problèmes… Nous, on vient jouer et on se prépare normalement pour les matchs du championnat. »
Classement : Fauve Azur reste dans le coup, YOSA dans la tourmente
Avec cette victoire sur tapis vert, Fauve Azur Elite grimpe à 34 points et consolide sa 5e place dans un championnat dominé par Colombe du Dja et Lobo (1er avec 56 points).
Pour YOSA, en revanche, la crise s’aggrave. Déjà lanterne rouge, le club de Bamenda reste bon dernier avec 16 petits points, et cette absence ne fait qu’enfoncer un peu plus une saison bien mal embarquée.

An empty pitch, a silent crowd, and three free points. This was the reality at Bamendzi Stadium on Wednesday, May 14, as Yong Sports Academy failed to show up for their Matchday 23 fixture against Fauve Azur Elite.
What was expected to be a competitive clash between Yong Sports Academy (YOSA) and Fauve Azur Elite turned into a walkover. Scheduled for 2:00 PM at Bamendzi Stadium, the match never kicked off. YOSA, currently struggling at the bottom of the MTN Elite One standings, did not appear, handing Fauve Azur a 3-0 victory by default.
The reasons for YOSA’s absence remain unclear, but their no-show only deepens the crisis looming over the Bamenda-based club.
Coach Gabriel Haman: “We would’ve preferred to win on the pitch”
Despite the favorable outcome, Fauve Azur’s head coach Gabriel Haman admitted he was disappointed not to see his players tested on the field:
“We wanted to win on the pitch, but this victory is still good for us. We haven’t played in 10 days, and going another five days without action could hurt our rhythm. We’ll prepare accordingly and play a friendly match tomorrow to stay sharp.”
While acknowledging the victory, Haman also expressed understanding for the situation:
“Each team has its own problems. We won’t get into that. We show up, we prepare, and we stay ready for every league match.”
Standings Update: Fauve Azur climbs, YOSA sinks deeper
This win lifts Fauve Azur Elite to 5th place with 34 points, keeping them well in the hunt for a top-four finish. At the top of the table, Colombe of Dja and Lobo remains firmly in control with 56 points.
Meanwhile, YOSA’s troubles worsen. Rooted to the bottom of the standings with only 16 points, this forfeit casts more doubt on their ability to finish the season on a competitive note.
