Sous la houlette du technicien belge, le Cameroun a survolé sa poule et validé son ticket pour la CAN Maroc 2025 en occupant la première place.
« Nous tenons à réitérer nos félicitations au coach Marc Brys, à l’ensemble de son staff et aux valeureux Lions indomptables », a martelé Mouelle Kombi, un message qui sonne comme une reconnaissance officielle d’un cycle sportif objectivement performant.
Mais l’urgence, aujourd’hui, est ailleurs. Avec la rupture actée entre la FECAFOOT et Marc Brys, le ministre recentre le débat sur le seul impératif acceptable: la performance. Il rappelle la nécessité pour l’instance faîtière du football camerounais de hisser l’équipe nationale vers un résultat supérieur à celui des trois dernières éditions. La débâcle de 2019, le sursaut du bronze à la CAN 2022 organisée à domicile, puis l’élimination précoce de 2024 en Côte d’Ivoire, composent un bilan contrasté que le Cameroun n’a plus le droit de répéter.
« L'harmonie est la mère de la victoire », a insisté Mouelle Kombi, soulignant que l’image et le rayonnement international du Cameroun doivent constituer la seule boussole des décideurs du football national. Il a également rappelé que l’État veillera à éviter toute cacophonie ou dissonance autour de la tanière, appelant à « l’impérieuse nécessité de l’apaisement » entre institutions et acteurs.
Sur le plan matériel, le gouvernement réaffirme son engagement total à sécuriser les aspects financiers et logistiques de la préparation des Lions indomptables. L’objectif est clair: offrir toutes les conditions d’une campagne aboutie au Maroc.
À Yaoundé, le message du ministre résonne comme un dernier rappel à l’ordre avant l’entrée dans la phase décisive de préparation. Au-delà des luttes de pouvoir, l’unité autour des Lions n’est plus un choix. Elle devient un devoir national.

Cameroon’s preparation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations has taken a decisive turn. During a key preparatory meeting at the Yaoundé Sports Palace, Sports Minister Prof. Narcisse Mouelle Kombi acknowledged FECAFOOT’s decision to part ways with coach Marc Brys, while reiterating the government’s unwavering commitment to financial and logistical support for the national team.
The minister highlighted that Marc Brys and his technical staff had been placed at the disposal of FECAFOOT under high directives from the Head of State, a move that yielded strong results: seventeen games, nine wins, six draws and only two defeats. Under Brys, Cameroon topped its qualifying group and secured a direct ticket to AFCON 2025 in Morocco.
Mouelle Kombi praised the coach, his staff and the players, stressing that the results achieved should be fully acknowledged.
However, with a new chapter beginning, he urged FECAFOOT to focus solely on elevating the Indomitable Lions’ performance, especially after mixed outcomes in the past three tournaments: a disappointing 2019 campaign, a respectable third place in 2022, and a frustrating Round of 16 exit in 2024.
He emphasized that national harmony must prevail, declaring that “harmony is the mother of victory.” He reminded stakeholders that the image and international standing of Cameroon must guide all decisions, insisting on calm and unity around the team.
The government, he reiterated, will continue to guarantee all financial and logistical support necessary for optimal preparation ahead of the tournament in Morocco.
The minister’s message stands as a call for institutional alignment and disciplined focus. As Cameroon enters a critical phase before the AFCON, unity is not optional. It is a national mandate.
