La partie italienne du relais débutera à Rome ce 6 décembre, pour un périple de deux mois à travers tout le pays, de la Sicile à la Sardaigne, jusqu'aux montagnes de Cortina d'Ampezzo. After a solemn ritual, the high priestess handed the sacred torch to Hellenic Olympic Committee President Isidoros Kouvelos, who passed it to Giovanni Malago, president of the Milan-Cortina 2026 organizing committee.

Off to Italy for a Two-Month Relay

The Olympic flame now begins its journey towards the Italian Alps. The Italian leg of the relay will start in Rome on December 6, for a two-month journey across the entire country, from Sicily to Sardinia, to the mountains of Cortina d'Ampezzo. The arrival is scheduled for February 6, 2026, at the San Siro stadium in Milan, for the opening of the XXV Winter Olympic Games (February 6-22, 2026).
