Cameroon’s Abdou Abdel Mefire has been appointed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as the central referee for the CHAN 2024 final between Morocco and Madagascar, scheduled this Saturday, August 30, 2025, in Nairobi.
At just 29 years old, Mefire is the youngest referee of this edition, showcasing a meteoric rise among Africa’s most promising officials. Since his debut on the international scene in 2019, he has built a reputation for calm authority, sharp decision-making, and consistency under pressure. His outstanding performances in Nairobi, Kampala, and Dar es Salaam throughout the tournament earned him the honor of taking charge of the grand final.
His talent is already recognized on the global stage, as FIFA confirmed his selection for the upcoming U17 World Cup in Qatar later this year.
