Mais plus encore, Bryan Mbeumo entre dans l’histoire. À 25 ans, l’ex-ailier de Brentford devient le footballeur camerounais le plus cher de tous les temps, reléguant son compatriote André Onana (52,5 M€ en 2023, également à Man United) à la deuxième place.
Et ce n’est pas tout : avec ce transfert XXL, Mbeumo devient également le joueur africain le plus cher de l’histoire, détrônant l’Ivoirien Nicolas Pépé, acheté par Arsenal en 2019 pour 80 millions d’euros.

It's now official: Bryan Mbeumo is set to join Manchester United for a staggering €82 million. After more than forty days of negotiations, the Red Devils and Brentford have finally agreed on the record deal. The Cameroonian forward becomes the third summer signing for United after Matheus Cunha (the new number 10) and young defender Diego Leon.
With this move, Mbeumo becomes the most expensive Cameroonian player in history, surpassing André Onana's €52.5 million move to United in 2023. He also becomes the most expensive African player of all time, overtaking Nicolas Pépé's €80 million transfer to Arsenal in 2019.
