Dans un communiqué dont cameroun24 a reçu copie, Léon Theiller Onana annonce avoir formellement notifié au Président du Conseil Électoral d’ELECAM une assignation en référé pour la désignation d’un mandataire ad hoc. L’objectif : convoquer en urgence un congrès ordinaire du parti, préalable indispensable – selon lui – à toute investiture d’un candidat à l’élection présidentielle de 2025.



L’homme politique ne mâche pas ses mots. Dans sa déclaration, il alerte ELECAM qu’en l’absence de ce congrès, le RDPC ne peut légalement présenter aucun candidat. Il met également en garde contre toute tentative de validation d’une candidature sans ce préalable, évoquant le risque d’une pluralité de candidatures issues du même parti.



    « Toute dérogation reviendrait à autoriser le RDPC à présenter plusieurs candidats », prévient-il.



Léon Theiller Onana, connu pour son franc-parler, en appelle à la neutralité d’ELECAM face aux influences politiques et administratives. Il exhorte l’organe électoral à affirmer son indépendance « urbi et orbi ».



Cette sortie fracassante vient raviver les tensions internes au sein du parti au pouvoir, où les manœuvres autour de la succession et des candidatures se font de plus en plus visibles à l’approche du scrutin.

 

2025 Presidential Race: RDPC Member Sues to Force Party Congress Before Candidate Nomination

A major internal shake-up is underway in Cameroon’s ruling party, the RDPC. Léon Theiller Onana has officially served the Electoral Council President of ELECAM with a legal summons requesting the appointment of an ad hoc representative to urgently convene the party’s ordinary congress – a prerequisite, he says, to selecting any candidate for the 2025 presidential election.



In a firm message, Onana stresses that without this congress, the RDPC cannot legally nominate a presidential candidate. He warns ELECAM against validating any such nomination unless the process has been duly followed, hinting at the risk of multiple RDPC candidates otherwise.



    “Any exception would amount to allowing multiple RDPC candidates in the presidential race,” he stated.



He also calls on ELECAM to reaffirm its neutrality in the face of political and administrative influence, urging the institution to stand firm “urbi et orbi.”



This statement throws new light on the internal struggles within the ruling party as the 2025 elections loom closer.
