The token sets the rate
Blizzard sells the WoW Token for €20 in the in-game shop, and players resell it on the Auction House for whatever gold supply and demand produce. On 14 October 2026 a token fetched 387,439 gold in Europe and 258,749 in the US region. Over the previous 30 days the European price moved between 371,932 and 444,289.
Spend euros on tokens and each euro buys about 19,400 gold. The other direction is less generous: a token bought with gold converts into 30 days of game time or €13 of Battle.net balance, and at that rate a euro of balance costs roughly 29,800 gold.
Buying it outside the game
The token is Blizzard’s only official route from euros to gold, but players have others. WowVendor, one of the specialist sellers, delivers WoW gold by in-game mail on both European and American servers. Since that market is unofficial, check a seller’s history on independent review sites before you pay.
Where the gold goes
The Auction House takes a cut of every sale. Bigger drains are optional. Opening all five tabs of the Warband bank, which every character on an account shares, costs 3,126,000 gold, about eight tokens at that day’s price.
Earning it
Since 2022, stackable goods such as herbs and ore have traded on one Auction House market shared by every server in a region, so a gatherer’s prices no longer depend on where they play. For crafters there are also crafting orders, and on those the customer sets the commission.
There is no token in Classic Era or Hardcore. Everywhere else, the token tab on the Auction House shows the live rate, and it reads backwards: the more gold a token costs, the less each coin is worth in euros.
