Mondial U20 féminin : l’Espagne et l’Italie s’affrontent pour une place en finale

Face à l’Italie, l’Espagne cherchera donc à prolonger une dynamique qui l’a conduite jusqu’au dernier carré sans connaître la défaite.
L’Italie, quatorze ans après, touche au dernier carré
Pour les Azzurrine, cette demi-finale constitue déjà un rendez-vous historique.
Après quatorze années d’absence de la Coupe du monde féminine U20, l’Italie a réussi son retour sur la scène mondiale en atteignant pour la première fois les demi-finales de la compétition.
Son parcours n’a pourtant pas été sans difficulté.
En huitièmes de finale, les Italiennes ont dû passer par la séance des tirs au but pour éliminer la Chine, après un score de 1-1 à l’issue du temps réglementaire, avant de s’imposer 5-4 aux tirs au but.
Les Italiennes ont ensuite livré une prestation plus maîtrisée contre la République de Corée en quarts de finale. Elles se sont imposées 3-1, avec notamment un doublé de Karen Appiah et un but de Paola Fadda.
L’Italie arrive donc dans ce dernier carré avec la confiance d'une équipe qui a déjà repoussé plusieurs obstacles.
Deux trajectoires, un seul billet pour la finale
Cette affiche met aux prises deux sélections aux expériences différentes à ce stade de la compétition.
L’Espagne connaît bien les rendez-vous du dernier carré. La sélection espagnole participe à sa troisième demi-finale lors des quatre dernières éditions du Mondial U20 féminin. Elle a également remporté le titre mondial en 2022.
L’Italie, elle, découvre pour la première fois les demi-finales de la compétition.
Sur le papier, les statistiques espagnoles impressionnent. Mais dans un match à élimination directe, le passé et les chiffres ne suffisent pas toujours. Le vainqueur de cette demi-finale retrouvera en finale la République démocratique de Corée ou la Colombie, qui doivent également se disputer une place pour le dernier match du tournoi.

Italy make history after 14-year absence
For the Azzurrine, reaching the semi-finals is already a historic achievement.
After 14 years away from the FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup, Italy have returned to the global stage in impressive fashion and reached the semi-finals for the first time in the history of the competition.
Their road to the last four has not been straightforward.
In the round of 16, Italy needed a penalty shootout to eliminate China after a 1-1 draw, eventually winning 5-4 on penalties.
The Italians then produced a convincing performance against the Republic of Korea in the quarter-finals, securing a 3-1 victory.
Karen Appiah played a key role with two goals, while Paola Fadda also found the net.
Italy will now attempt to extend a historic campaign by taking another step towards the world title.
Two different journeys, one place in the final
The semi-final brings together two teams with very different levels of experience at this stage of the tournament.
Spain are regular contenders in the latter stages of the competition. The Rojita are appearing in the semi-finals for the third time in the last four editions and won the FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup in 2022.
Italy, meanwhile, are appearing in the semi-finals for the first time.
