Cameroun : féminicide présumé, disparitions, décès suspects et coups de filet, les faits divers qui marquent la semaine
De Nkoabang à Ebolowa, en passant par Bafoussam, Douala et Yaoundé, plusieurs affaires ont mobilisé les forces de sécurité et plongé des familles dans l’inquiétude. Disparitions inquiétantes, décès aux circonstances encore floues, trafic présumé de stupéfiants et opération contre les médicaments illicites figurent parmi les faits marquants.
La semaine est particulièrement chargée sur le front des faits divers au Cameroun. Plusieurs affaires, distinctes les unes des autres, ont mobilisé policiers, gendarmes et autorités administratives dans différentes villes du pays.
À Nkoabang, dans la périphérie de Yaoundé, une reconstitution judiciaire tente notamment de faire la lumière sur la mort de Kwanga Valérie, 18 ans. À Bafoussam, le décès d'une fillette de deux ans et demi dans les circonstances encore à déterminer a suscité l'émoi. À Douala, une adolescente portée disparue a été retrouvée saine et sauve.
D'autres dossiers concernent la disparition d'un nourrisson à Ebolowa, la mort d'une femme et de ses trois enfants à Foumbot, ainsi que la découverte d'un corps enterré dans un champ à Kouoptamo.
Nkoabang : la mort de Valérie au cœur d'une reconstitution
La Légion de gendarmerie du Centre a procédé le 9 septembre à une reconstitution des faits à Nkoabang, lieu-dit Njongo, autour de la mort de Kwanga Valérie, 18 ans.
Selon les premiers éléments issus de la procédure, une dispute aurait opposé la jeune femme à son oncle, Gianai Prince M., âgé de 16 ans, peu avant sa disparition. Le différend aurait notamment porté sur un iPhone.
Valérie n'aurait ensuite plus donné signe de vie autour du 14 août. Cinq jours plus tard, son corps aurait été découvert dissimulé et enterré derrière la concession familiale.
Le suspect présumé avait entre-temps rejoint son père à Douala, où il aurait été interpellé en raison notamment de son comportement jugé suspect, avant d'être ramené à Nkoabang.
La reconstitution s'est déroulée en présence du substitut du procureur Ndoumbè Etéki Arnold S. et du commandant de la Légion de gendarmerie du Centre, le colonel Désiré Nguélé.
Selon les informations communiquées dans le cadre de cette affaire, l'adolescent aurait expliqué avoir enterré un chat. La procédure judiciaire devra désormais déterminer avec précision les circonstances du décès et les éventuelles responsabilités.
À ce stade, la qualification de féminicide et la culpabilité du suspect restent soumises aux conclusions de l'enquête et de la justice.
Bafoussam : une fillette de deux ans et demi meurt après avoir été retrouvée inanimée
À Bafoussam, l'émotion est également vive après le décès d'Inaya Mbouo, âgée de deux ans et demi.
La fillette aurait été retrouvée inanimée au pied d'un toboggan par le gardien de son établissement scolaire. Elle a été évacuée vers l'hôpital de district de la Mifi, où elle est décédée mercredi 9 septembre.
Alerté, le sous-préfet de Bafoussam II, Grégoire Essono Bodo, s'est rendu sur les lieux pour s'enquérir de la situation.
Le corps de l'enfant a été remis à sa famille et inhumé le jeudi 10 septembre, en présence notamment des autorités et des responsables de l'établissement.
Une enquête a été ouverte afin de déterminer les circonstances exactes de ce décès.
Douala : une adolescente portée disparue retrouvée à Maképé
Une autre affaire a connu une issue plus heureuse à Douala.
Une adolescente de 17 ans, portée disparue depuis le 5 septembre, a été retrouvée mercredi à Maképé grâce à une opération conjointe de la Police municipale de Douala 5e et du commissariat du 18e arrondissement.
Selon son récit, la jeune fille aurait emprunté une moto à Maképé Saint-Tropez pour se rendre à la paroisse Sainte-Monique. Elle affirme avoir ensuite été conduite contre son gré vers une autre destination, avant d'être retenue pendant plusieurs jours.
Les recherches ont permis de la localiser dans un immeuble situé au carrefour Maképé Rond-Point.
Libérée, elle a été conduite au CMA de Bonamoussadi, tandis que sa famille était contactée.
Les investigations se poursuivent pour établir les circonstances exactes de cette affaire et identifier les personnes susceptibles d'être impliquées.
Ebolowa : inquiétude autour de la disparition d'un nourrisson
À Ebolowa, les recherches se poursuivent pour retrouver Joël Gabriel Enye’e, un nourrisson né le 23 mars 2026 et porté disparu depuis le 6 septembre.
Selon le récit de sa mère, une femme prénommée Mireille, rencontrée environ une semaine auparavant à l'Église presbytérienne d'Elat, se serait progressivement rapprochée de la famille.
La femme aurait notamment proposé des soins traditionnels pour le bébé.
Le jour de la disparition, elle aurait acheté des beignets aux enfants avant de prendre une moto avec le nourrisson, promettant de revenir.
Depuis, la famille est sans nouvelles de l'enfant et de la femme.
Une plainte pour vol de bébé a été déposée auprès de la Police judiciaire d'Ebolowa. Les recherches sont en cours.
Foumbot : une femme et ses trois enfants meurent après un repas
Un autre drame a secoué le quartier Gougouo, dans l'arrondissement de Foumbot, département du Noun.
Une femme et ses trois enfants sont décédés mercredi 9 septembre après avoir consommé du kontchap, un mets local.
Des informations recueillies sur place font état de la présence supposée d'un lézard de couleur blanche dans le repas.
Cette information doit cependant être traitée avec prudence. Aucun élément disponible à ce stade ne permet d'établir formellement un lien entre la présence du reptile, la consommation du repas et les décès.
Les causes exactes de la mort doivent encore être déterminées. Les investigations devraient notamment permettre d'établir les circonstances de la préparation et de la consommation du repas.
Kouoptamo : un homme retrouvé enterré dans un champ
À Njindoun, dans l'arrondissement de Kouoptamo, un corps a été découvert mardi 8 septembre dans un champ.
Il s'agit d'Amidou N., 48 ans, porté disparu depuis plusieurs jours.
Selon une source sécuritaire, des riverains qui se rendaient dans leurs champs auraient été alertés par une forte odeur avant de découvrir la dépouille, ensevelie dans le champ.
Les circonstances de sa disparition et de son décès restent inconnues, tout comme les raisons pour lesquelles son corps se serait retrouvé enterré à cet endroit.
Après les constatations d'usage, la dépouille a été remise à la famille pour inhumation.
Une enquête a été ouverte afin de faire la lumière sur cette affaire.
Yaoundé : huit ressortissants congolais libérés d'une maison isolée
La Légion de gendarmerie du Centre a également mené une opération à Mbangapongo, dans le secteur d'Ekoumdoum, à Yaoundé.
Huit ressortissants congolais, dont sept de la République démocratique du Congo et un du Congo-Brazzaville, y ont été libérés d'une maison isolée.
Selon les premiers éléments, ces personnes auraient été attirées au Cameroun par une promesse d'emploi rémunéré à 250 000 FCFA.
Une fois sur place, leurs passeports auraient été confisqués. Elles auraient ensuite été contraintes de faire venir d'autres compatriotes afin de pouvoir espérer retrouver leur liberté.
Au total, 15 personnes auraient ainsi été regroupées dans la maison.
Huit ont été libérées. Sept personnes soupçonnées d'être impliquées sont recherchées.
Après leur audition, les victimes devraient être prises en charge par les services compétents des Affaires sociales.
Cette affaire met une nouvelle fois en lumière les risques liés aux offres d'emploi frauduleuses et aux réseaux présumés d'exploitation de migrants.
Médicaments illicites : vaste saisie à Mokolo, au Marché central et à l'Avenue Kennedy
Toujours à Yaoundé, la gendarmerie a intensifié sa lutte contre les circuits de distribution de produits de santé présumés illicites ou falsifiés.
Des opérations simultanées menées jeudi 10 septembre à Mokolo, au Marché central et à l'Avenue Kennedy ont permis de saisir plusieurs milliers de cartons de produits.
La saisie comprend notamment des anti-inflammatoires, antipaludiques, antibiotiques, produits de santé reproductive et infantile, seringues, dispositifs médicaux, tramadol et emballages imprimés.
Le colonel Joseph Désiré Nguélé, commandant de la Légion de gendarmerie du Centre, a annoncé la poursuite des opérations contre ces circuits.
Les personnes interpellées devraient être présentées au procureur. Les produits saisis sont, selon les éléments communiqués, destinés à la destruction.
Plus de 60 kg de chanvre indien saisis à Mvog-Ada
Quelques jours plus tôt, le 3 septembre, la Compagnie de gendarmerie de Yaoundé III avait procédé à une importante saisie de drogue à Mvog-Ada.
Plus de 60 kg de chanvre indien compacté ont été découverts dans une maison du quartier à la suite d'un signalement anonyme transmis au numéro vert 1501.
Les briques de drogue étaient emballées dans du ruban adhésif et dissimulées dans des cartons.
Une femme a été interpellée dans le cadre de l'opération.
Selon les premiers éléments de l'enquête, la drogue proviendrait de l'Ouest, avant d'être conditionnée à Yaoundé puis acheminée vers Bertoua, Yokadouma et Garoua-Boulaï. La République centrafricaine serait la destination finale présumée.
Les enquêteurs cherchent désormais à identifier les autres acteurs éventuels de ce réseau.
Des enquêtes pour établir les faits
De Nkoabang à Yaoundé, en passant par Bafoussam, Douala, Ebolowa, Foumbot et Kouoptamo, ces différentes affaires ont en commun de laisser plusieurs questions sans réponse.
Dans les dossiers criminels, les déclarations des témoins et les premiers éléments recueillis constituent des pistes de travail et non des conclusions définitives. Les enquêtes judiciaires, les constatations médico-légales et, le cas échéant, les décisions des tribunaux permettront de préciser les responsabilités.
Pour les familles concernées, l'attente reste lourde. Pour les enquêteurs, l'enjeu est désormais de transformer les premiers indices en éléments de preuve suffisamment solides pour établir la vérité des faits.
Cameroon: Suspected Femicide, Disappearances, Mysterious Deaths and Police Crackdowns Mark a Tense Week
From Nkoabang to Ebolowa, Bafoussam, Douala and Yaoundé, several incidents have kept security forces busy and raised concern among families. Suspected femicide, disappearances, unexplained deaths, alleged kidnapping and major seizures of illicit drugs and medicines are among the cases reported this week.
Cameroon has recorded a series of troubling incidents in recent days, prompting interventions by the police, gendarmerie and administrative authorities in several parts of the country.
In Nkoabang, on the outskirts of Yaoundé, investigators carried out a reconstruction of events surrounding the death of 18-year-old Kwanga Valérie. In Bafoussam, the death of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl under circumstances that remain unclear has caused widespread emotion. In Douala, a 17-year-old girl who had been reported missing was found alive.
Other cases involve the disappearance of a newborn in Ebolowa, the deaths of a woman and her three children in Foumbot, and the discovery of a man's body buried in a field in Kouoptamo.
Nkoabang: Reconstruction Held Over Valérie's Death
The Centre Regional Gendarmerie Legion carried out a reconstruction of events on September 9 in Nkoabang, at Njongo, as part of the investigation into the death of 18-year-old Kwanga Valérie.
According to preliminary information from the investigation, Valérie reportedly had an argument with her 16-year-old uncle, Gianai Prince M., shortly before she disappeared. The dispute allegedly involved an iPhone.
Valérie reportedly stopped responding to relatives around August 14. Five days later, her body was allegedly discovered buried and concealed behind the family home.
In the meantime, the teenage suspect had reportedly travelled to Douala, where he was arrested after his behaviour allegedly raised suspicions. He was subsequently taken back to Nkoabang.
The reconstruction was conducted in the presence of Ndoumbè Etéki Arnold S., deputy public prosecutor, and Colonel Désiré Nguélé, commander of the Centre Gendarmerie Legion.
According to information emerging from the case, the teenager had reportedly claimed that he had buried a cat.
The judicial process is ongoing and is expected to establish the exact circumstances surrounding Valérie's death and determine any potential responsibility.
At this stage, the description of the case as femicide and the suspect's guilt remain matters for the investigation and the courts to establish.
Bafoussam: Two-and-a-Half-Year-Old Girl Dies After Being Found Unconscious
In Bafoussam, residents and the child's family have been left grieving following the death of Inaya Mbouo, aged two and a half.
The child was reportedly found unconscious at the foot of a slide by a security guard at her school.
She was rushed to the Mifi District Hospital, where she died shortly afterwards on Wednesday, September 9.
The Sub-Divisional Officer for Bafoussam II, Grégoire Essono Bodo, was alerted and visited the site to assess the situation.
The girl's body was handed over to her family and buried on Thursday, September 10, in the presence of authorities and representatives of the school.
An investigation has been opened to determine exactly what happened.
Douala: Missing 17-Year-Old Found in Maképé
A 17-year-old girl who had been missing since September 5 was found alive on Wednesday in Maképé, Douala.
The operation was reportedly carried out jointly by the Douala 5 municipal police and officers from the 18th Police District.
According to the girl's account, she had taken a motorcycle taxi at Maképé Saint-Tropez to travel to Sainte-Monique parish.
She alleges that she was subsequently taken against her will to another location and held there for several days.
Search efforts eventually led investigators to an apartment building near Maképé Roundabout, where she was found and freed.
She was taken to the Bonamoussadi Medicalised Health Centre, while her family was contacted.
Investigators are continuing their work to establish the circumstances of the incident and identify those who may have been involved.
Ebolowa: Family Searches for Missing Newborn
In Ebolowa, authorities and relatives are continuing efforts to locate Joël Gabriel Enye’e, a baby born on March 23, 2026, who has reportedly been missing since September 6.
According to the child's mother, a woman named Mireille, whom she had met about a week earlier at the Elat Presbyterian Church, had gradually become close to the family.
The woman had reportedly offered to provide traditional treatment for the baby.
On the day the child disappeared, she allegedly bought doughnuts for the children before taking a motorcycle taxi with the newborn, promising to return.
The family has reportedly heard nothing since then from either the woman or the baby.
A complaint for alleged baby theft has been filed with the Ebolowa Judicial Police.
Searches are ongoing.
Foumbot: Woman and Three Children Die After Eating Local Dish
Another tragedy was reported in Gougouo, in the Foumbot Subdivision of the Noun Division.
A woman and her three children reportedly died on Wednesday, September 9, after eating kontchap, a local dish.
Information gathered locally mentioned the alleged discovery of a white-coloured lizard in the meal.
However, this claim must be treated with caution. There is currently no established evidence linking the presence of the reptile, consumption of the meal and the deaths.
The exact causes of death remain to be established.
Investigators are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the preparation and consumption of the meal and determine what caused the deaths.
Kouoptamo: Missing 48-Year-Old Found Buried in a Field
In Njindoun, Kouoptamo Subdivision in the Noun Division, the body of a missing man was discovered buried in a field on Tuesday, September 8.
The victim was identified as 48-year-old Amidou N., who had reportedly been missing for several days.
According to a security source, residents heading to their farms were alerted by a strong smell and subsequently discovered the body.
The circumstances surrounding his disappearance and death, as well as how his body ended up buried at the location, remain unclear.
After the necessary forensic and investigative procedures, the body was handed over to the family for burial.
An investigation has been opened.
Yaoundé: Eight Congolese Nationals Rescued From Isolated House
The Centre Gendarmerie Legion also carried out an operation in Mbangapongo, in the Ekoumdoum area of Yaoundé, leading to the release of eight Congolese nationals.
The group reportedly included seven citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo and one from the Republic of Congo.
According to preliminary findings, the victims were allegedly lured to Cameroon with a promise of employment paying 250,000 CFA francs.
Once at the location, their passports were reportedly confiscated. Each victim was allegedly then forced to bring another compatriot in order to have a chance of regaining their freedom.
As many as 15 people were reportedly gathered in the house.
Eight have been freed, while seven people suspected of involvement are being sought.
Following questioning, the victims are expected to be referred to the appropriate social services for assistance.
The case highlights the risks associated with fraudulent employment offers and alleged human exploitation networks.
Illegal Medicines: Major Seizure in Yaoundé
Security forces have also stepped up the fight against the distribution of illicit and potentially counterfeit medical products in Yaoundé.
Simultaneous operations carried out on Thursday, September 10, in Mokolo, the Central Market and Avenue Kennedy resulted in the seizure of thousands of cartons of health-related products.
The seized items reportedly included anti-inflammatory drugs, antimalarials, antibiotics, reproductive and child-health products, syringes, medical devices, tramadol and printed packaging materials.
Colonel Joseph Désiré Nguélé, commander of the Centre Gendarmerie Legion, announced that the crackdown on these distribution networks would continue.
Those arrested are expected to be brought before the public prosecutor, while the seized products are reportedly scheduled for destruction.
More Than 60 kg of Cannabis Seized in Mvog-Ada
On September 3, the Yaoundé III Gendarmerie Company carried out another major operation in Mvog-Ada, Yaoundé.
More than 60 kilograms of compressed Indian hemp, or cannabis, were seized following an anonymous tip received through the 1501 hotline.
Gendarmes reportedly discovered bricks of cannabis wrapped in adhesive tape and concealed inside cardboard boxes at a house in the neighbourhood.
A woman was arrested during the operation.
According to preliminary information from the investigation, the drug allegedly originated from the Western Region, before being packaged in Yaoundé and transported towards Bertoua, Yokadouma and Garoua-Boulaï.
The Central African Republic was reportedly the suspected final destination.
Investigators are continuing their efforts to identify other individuals who may have been involved in the alleged trafficking network.

From Nkoabang to Yaoundé, Bafoussam, Douala, Ebolowa, Foumbot and Kouoptamo, the different cases reported this week have left families and investigators facing numerous unanswered questions.
