Coupe de la CAF : la Panthère du Ndé piégée à Yaoundé, tout se jouera à Kigali
La Panthère Sportive du Ndé devra encore patienter avant de prendre une sérieuse option sur la qualification. Pour son entrée en lice au premier tour préliminaire de la Coupe de la Confédération africaine de football (CAF), le club camerounais a été accroché 1-1 par Rayon Sports FC, ce vendredi au stade Ahmadou Ahidjo de Yaoundé.
Les Nzuimanto avaient pourtant parfaitement lancé leur campagne africaine. Dans une rencontre longtemps indécise, Valentin Beo Batto a trouvé la faille pour donner l’avantage à la formation camerounaise. L’attaquant s’est notamment illustré avec un superbe retourné acrobatique, venant concrétiser les efforts offensifs de la Panthère.
Marc Onguene maintient la Panthère devant
Avant même l’ouverture du score, la Panthère du Ndé a pu compter sur un Marc Onguene particulièrement inspiré. Le gardien camerounais a réalisé un spectaculaire triple arrêt, empêchant Rayon Sports de prendre les commandes de la partie.
Cette intervention décisive a permis aux représentants camerounais de rejoindre les vestiaires avec un avantage d’un but : 1-0 à la pause.
Mais Rayon Sports n’avait pas dit son dernier mot.
Junior Kameni refroidit les Nzuimanto
Alors que la Panthère semblait se diriger vers une victoire précieuse avant le déplacement au Rwanda, Junior Kameni a remis les deux formations à égalité dans le dernier quart d’heure.
L’attaquant camerounais évoluant sous les couleurs de Rayon Sports FC a trouvé le chemin des filets pour ramener le club rwandais à hauteur : 1-1.
Un coup dur pour les hommes du Ndé, qui avaient longtemps conservé leur avantage et espéraient aborder le match retour avec un précieux matelas.
La qualification se décidera à Kigali
Ce match nul laisse les deux équipes totalement en vie avant la seconde manche. La Panthère Sportive du Ndé devra désormais réaliser une performance à l’extérieur pour décrocher son billet pour le tour suivant.
Le scénario est donc clair : après avoir laissé échapper la victoire à domicile, le club camerounais devra aller chercher sa qualification à Kigali.
Rayon Sports, de son côté, repart de Yaoundé avec un résultat particulièrement intéressant. En ayant évité la défaite, les Rwandais auront désormais l’avantage du terrain au match retour.
Un rendez-vous à quitte ou double
Pour la Panthère du Ndé, le 1-1 constitue à la fois une déception et une source d’espoir. Déception, parce que les Camerounais avaient pris l’avantage et semblaient en mesure de conserver leur avance. Espoir, parce que rien n’est encore joué.
La manche retour s’annonce ainsi comme une véritable bataille pour la qualification. Les Nzuimanto devront faire preuve de réalisme, de solidité défensive et surtout de maîtrise pour ne pas voir leur aventure africaine s’arrêter dès le premier tour préliminaire.

CAF Confederation Cup: Panthère du Ndé held at home by Rayon Sports, everything to be decided in Kigali
Panthère Sportive du Ndé will have to fight for their qualification in Kigali after being held to a 1-1 draw by Rayon Sports FC in the first leg of the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup this Friday at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé.
The Cameroonian side had made the perfect start to the match. Valentin Beo Batto put Panthère ahead with a spectacular finish, including a magnificent acrobatic overhead kick that sent the Nzuimanto supporters into celebration.
Marc Onguene keeps Panthère ahead
Panthère also had goalkeeper Marc Onguene to thank for a crucial intervention before halftime.
The Cameroonian goalkeeper produced a remarkable triple save, denying Rayon Sports from finding the breakthrough and allowing Panthère to go into the break with a 1-0 lead.
The home side appeared to be on course for a precious first-leg victory.
But Rayon Sports came back strongly.
Junior Kameni levels the score
With the match entering its final quarter, Junior Kameni, the Cameroonian forward playing for Rayon Sports, found the back of the net to bring the Rwandan side level.
His goal changed the complexion of the tie, as Panthère were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw on home soil.
For the Cameroonian club, it was a frustrating result after taking the lead and creating the conditions for a victory.
Qualification now goes through Kigali
The draw leaves the tie completely open ahead of the second leg.
Panthère du Ndé will now have to travel to Kigali, Rwanda, looking for the result that will send them through to the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Rayon Sports, meanwhile, will have the advantage of playing the decisive second leg in front of their home supporters.
The Cameroonian side will need greater efficiency in attack and defensive concentration if they are to continue their continental campaign.
