Coupe de la CAF : les premières grosses affiches arrivent, le CS Sfaxien, Hafia et le 1º de Agosto en action
La Coupe de la Confédération africaine de football (CAF) va bientôt entrer dans le vif du sujet. Du vendredi 4 au dimanche 6 septembre, les clubs engagés disputeront les matchs aller du premier tour préliminaire, avec l’ambition de prendre une première option avant les rencontres retour.
Comme en Ligue des champions de la CAF, cette première étape réserve déjà plusieurs confrontations intéressantes. Des formations habituées aux joutes continentales font leur entrée en scène, avec notamment le CS Sfaxien, le Hafia FC de Conakry, le Real Bamako, le 1º de Agosto ou encore le Singida Black Stars.
Le CS Sfaxien face à Shooting Stars, une affiche à suivre
Parmi les rencontres les plus attendues de ce premier tour, le déplacement du CS Sfaxien sur la pelouse de Shooting Stars SC, samedi 5 septembre, attire particulièrement l'attention.
Le club tunisien possède une solide expérience des compétitions africaines et cherchera à obtenir un résultat favorable à l'extérieur avant la manche retour. En face, Shooting Stars aura l'avantage de jouer devant son public et tentera de faire déjouer l'un des habitués du football continental.
Autre rendez-vous important : AS Douane – Hafia FC, programmé samedi à 15h GMT. Le club guinéen de Conakry entend également lancer sa campagne continentale sur une bonne note.
Le 1º de Agosto et le Real Bamako également en lice
Le 1º de Agosto sera opposé à Green Mamba FC, samedi à 13h GMT. Le club angolais, régulièrement présent sur la scène africaine, devra négocier avec sérieux ce déplacement afin de ne pas compromettre ses chances avant le retour.
Le Real Bamako fera également son entrée en compétition. Les Maliens se déplacent dimanche à 16h GMT sur le terrain de Vitesse FC.
Le programme prévoit aussi la confrontation entre AS Zam et ASKO, deux formations qui chercheront à prendre l'avantage dès la première manche.
Une première journée déjà très chargée
Le coup d'envoi sera donné vendredi 4 septembre avec cinq rencontres au programme. Panthère affrontera Rayon Sports, tandis que Zarzis recevra Diambars. AS PSI sera opposé au CO Korhogo, alors que AS Port Louis 2000 accueillera Jwaneng Galaxy FC.
La journée s'achèvera avec le duel entre Hilal Alsahil SC du Soudan et Welwalo Adigrat.
Samedi sera particulièrement dense avec pas moins de 15 rencontres. Dimanche, sept affiches sont programmées pour clôturer cette manche aller du premier tour préliminaire.
L'enjeu est clair pour tous les prétendants : prendre une avance suffisante avant la deuxième manche et éviter une élimination prématurée.

Une bataille continentale déjà décisive
Si la qualification se joue sur deux manches, la première journée n'en reste pas moins déterminante. Pour les clubs visiteurs, l'objectif sera souvent de décrocher un nul ou une victoire afin d'aborder le retour avec davantage de sérénité. Pour les équipes à domicile, la pression sera inverse : faire le plein devant leur public pour se donner une marge de sécurité.
Avec le CS Sfaxien, Hafia, le 1º de Agosto, le Real Bamako et plusieurs autres habitués du continent, la Coupe de la CAF 2026-2027 promet ainsi un premier tour préliminaire particulièrement disputé.
CAF Confederation Cup: CS Sfaxien, Hafia and 1º de Agosto ready for their African campaign
The CAF Confederation Cup is set to get underway in the coming days, with the first-leg matches of the first preliminary round scheduled from Friday, September 4 to Sunday, September 6.
Several clubs will be looking to gain an early advantage before the return legs. As in the CAF Champions League, the opening preliminary round already features some interesting encounters involving teams with significant experience on the African stage.
Among the clubs attracting attention are CS Sfaxien, Hafia FC of Conakry, Real Bamako, 1º de Agosto and Singida Black Stars.
CS Sfaxien face Shooting Stars
One of the standout fixtures of the opening round will see Shooting Stars SC host Tunisia's CS Sfaxien on Saturday, September 5, at 15:00 GMT.
CS Sfaxien have considerable experience in African club competitions and will aim to return home with a positive result. Shooting Stars, however, will rely on home advantage to put pressure on the Tunisian side.
Another important fixture will see AS Douane host Hafia FC at 15:00 GMT on Saturday.
1º de Agosto and Real Bamako also in action
Angolan giants 1º de Agosto will travel to face Green Mamba FC at 13:00 GMT on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Real Bamako will begin their campaign away against Vitesse FC on Sunday at 16:00 GMT.
The first preliminary round will also feature the encounter between AS Zam and ASKO, while Singida Black Stars will travel to face Al-Ghazala SC Wau.
A busy opening weekend
Five matches are scheduled for Friday, followed by a packed Saturday featuring 16 fixtures. The opening-leg schedule concludes on Sunday with eight additional games.
For every team involved, the objective is straightforward: build an advantage in the first leg and put themselves in the best possible position ahead of the return fixture.

Although qualification will be decided over two legs, the opening matches remain crucial. Away teams will be looking to secure a positive result, while home sides will aim to build an advantage in front of their supporters.
