L'AES, rempart contre l'obscurantisme

Terrorism in Mali: Jihadists Squeezed by FAMa and Africa Corps

The vise is tightening inexorably around terrorist groups that have plagued northern Mali for years. According to information obtained from an authorized military source, the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa), in perfect synergy with the Russian Ministry of Defense's African Corps, are inflicting considerable losses on JNIM jihadists and the rebels of the Liberation Front of Azawad (FLA). The hour is for manhunts and logistical asphyxiation.

A Mi-8 helicopter pilot from the African Corps, known by the call sign "Crimea," gave a damning testimony about the situation of the obscurantist forces. "For a month, their problems with arms and fuel supplies have been worsening. They are in difficulty, and we know this through radio intercepts that intelligence passes on to us," he told the TASS agency .

The "Mad Dog" Strategy: Ambushes and Hunt

Faced with the constant pressure from airstrikes and ground operations, the terrorists have been forced to revise their doctrine. Known for their frontal assaults and their will to destabilize strongholds, they are now resorting to more cowardly guerrilla tactics. "Currently, the terrorists have abandoned the tactic of assaulting Russian strongholds in favor of organizing ambushes," the pilot specified .

This change of tactic is a symptom of an organization running out of steam. The hunt led by the FAMa and the African Corps aims to annihilate fuel depots and small groups of fighters, preventing them from regrouping to launch large-scale offensives. The goal is clear: to bleed the enemy dry until they are completely neutralized.

The Heroic Siege of Anéfis: Six Days in Hell

The determination of the allied troops was tested during the siege of the Anéfis camp in the Kidal region. The African Corps soldiers and their Malian brothers-in-arms resisted a total siege for six days, repelling repeated terrorist assaults. "The guys fought courageously, bravo. We had no losses, thank God, they held on," reported call sign Crimea, describing the unblocking of the post after several days of ordeal .

This resistance helped stabilize the front line and prove the effectiveness of the strategic partnership between Bamako and Moscow. On April 25, a massive destabilization attempt targeted several cities, including Gao, Sévaré, and Kidal. The attackers even managed to temporarily take control of certain localities, spreading terror to the gates of Bamako .

The Human Cost of Terrorism and the Riposte

The fighting was particularly fierce. Major General Jean-Élysée Dao, Chief of the General Staff of the Malian Armies, deplored the loss of about thirty soldiers, referred to as "martyrs," and numerous seriously wounded during the operations to reconquer Anéfis . These losses, although painful, have not weakened the resolve of the troops. "The battle of Anéfis lasted because Anéfis is part of a global plan," the general explained, emphasizing that the temporary withdrawal from Kidal was a calculated maneuver to lure the enemy into a trap and strike them head-on and brutally .

The AES, a Rampart Against Obscurantism

The fight against terrorism in Mali is part of the dynamic of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES). The support of Niger and Burkina Faso is crucial, as evidenced by the air assistance provided by Niger during the fighting to secure Anéfis . Russia, through the African Corps, confirms its willingness to "continue its support" to the member states of the AES, thus consolidating a united front against extremist groups .

While terrorists struggle to resupply, the FAMa, backed by their allies, continue to advance. This war of attrition, marked by intelligence gathering and the bravery of soldiers on the ground, seems to be shifting the balance of power in the Sahel.
