Selon Brys, la convocation publiée récemment n’est pas celle que son successeur, David Pagou, aurait souhaité présenter. Il affirme que le nouveau sélectionneur, fraîchement nommé par la Fecafoot après son propre départ, n’aurait en réalité eu aucune marge de manœuvre.
« La sélection annoncée n’est pas celle de Pagou. C’est clairement celle du président de la Fecafoot. Eto’o a évincé des joueurs importants, des leaders, car c’est évidemment lui qui a fait cette liste », accuse-t-il.

L’ex-sélectionneur, désormais tenu à l’écart, cite les cas les plus sensibles. Il questionne la pertinence sportive d’une équipe privée « d’un gardien de niveau mondial » et de son capitaine emblématique, Vincent Aboubakar. Pour lui, ces absences n’ont rien de technique.
« Ce sont des joueurs qui ont du caractère, qui tiennent tête au président. Voilà pourquoi ils ne sont pas là », estime Brys, allant jusqu’à qualifier Samuel Eto’o de « narcissique », un trait de personnalité qui aurait, selon lui, directement pesé dans les décisions.

Sur le plan administratif, l’ancien patron du banc n’en démord pas. Il rappelle qu’il avait été contractuellement engagé par le ministère des Sports, et non par la Fecafoot.
« Si on me dit que je ne suis plus le sélectionneur du Cameroun, il faut le faire officiellement. Il faut me payer ce qu’on me doit, et payer aussi les membres de mon staff », martèle-t-il.

Alors que David Pagou tente de prendre ses marques au milieu d’un climat déjà lourd, cette nouvelle sortie de Brys relance les interrogations sur l’influence réelle de la Fecafoot dans le processus de sélection et sur la capacité des Lions Indomptables à aborder sereinement la CAN 2025. Dismissed by Samuel Eto’o at the height of an unprecedented institutional standoff, former Cameroon head coach Marc Brys is not leaving quietly. Days after his removal, he gave an interview to Afrik-Foot, delivering a new and forceful attack on the Fecafoot president. At the center of his criticism is the squad list released for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

According to Brys, the list does not reflect the choices of his successor, David Pagou. Appointed by the Fecafoot immediately after Brys was pushed out, Pagou allegedly had no real control over the selection.
“The list published is not Pagou’s. It is clearly the Fecafoot president’s list. Eto’o removed key players, leaders, because he is obviously the one who made it,” Brys said.

The Belgian technician pointed to the most controversial omissions, questioning the reasoning behind entering a major tournament without “a world-class goalkeeper” or captain Vincent Aboubakar. For Brys, the explanation is political rather than technical.
“These are players with character who stand up to the president. That is why they were excluded,” he claimed, going as far as describing Samuel Eto’o as “narcissistic.”

Brys also insisted on the legality of his own situation, noting that his contract was signed with the Ministry of Sports.
“If they want to tell me I am no longer the head coach, they must do it officially. They must pay what I am owed, and pay my technical staff as well,” he said.
