« Pour faire quoi ? », a-t-il rétorqué face aux journalistes, marquant un rejet cinglant de l’institution chargée de trancher les contentieux électoraux au Cameroun.



Cette position traduit une perte totale de confiance en la neutralité du Conseil Constitutionnel, que l’opposition soupçonne depuis plusieurs années d’être acquis au régime en place. Me Simh s’appuie notamment sur les précédents de 2018 et du contentieux préélectoral de 2025, où le Mouvement pour la Renaissance du Cameroun (MRC) avait déjà dénoncé une justice électorale à sens unique.



Pour Issa Tchiroma Bakary, qui s’est autoproclamé vainqueur du scrutin dès mercredi, le combat ne se joue plus sur le terrain juridique, mais sur celui de la légitimité politique et de la volonté populaire.



Une posture risquée mais assumée, qui place le FSNC dans une logique de défiance vis-à-vis des institutions, tout en cherchant à s’imposer comme une alternative crédible au pouvoir en place. Reste à savoir si ce pari politique trouvera écho auprès des Camerounais.



 

Cameroon 2025 Presidential Election: Issa Tchiroma Refuses to Appeal to the Constitutional Council – “For What?” Says Emmanuel Simh

The camp of Front for the National Salvation of Cameroon (FSNC) candidate Issa Tchiroma Bakary has announced it will not appeal to the Constitutional Council following the 2025 presidential election.



Speaking on Radio Balafon, lawyer and political ally Emmanuel Simh declared bluntly: “For what?”, expressing deep skepticism about the impartiality of the country’s top electoral body.



This stance reinforces Issa Tchiroma’s earlier declaration of self-proclaimed victory, as he vowed not to recognize any other results.



The opposition cites previous cases—notably in 2018 and during the pre-electoral disputes of 2025—where the Constitutional Council was accused of siding with incumbent President Paul Biya.



For Tchiroma’s camp, the battlefield is now political, not judicial. The FSNC intends to fight on the grounds of legitimacy and public support rather than through a process they deem biased.
