Dans une note publiée à l’issue de la rencontre, Kamto précise que l’ancien Premier ministre était accompagné de deux de ses collaborateurs et que les échanges se sont déroulés « dans une atmosphère empreinte de cordialité ». Rien n’a filtré du contenu des discussions, mais le timing nourrit les spéculations.



En effet, de plus en plus de voix s’élèvent pour réclamer une coalition entre trois figures majeures de l’opposition : Maurice Kamto, Issa Tchiroma Bakary et Bello Bouba Maïgari. L’idée : unir les forces pour peser face au camp présidentiel lors du scrutin.



Cette rencontre, apparemment amicale, pourrait bien être un premier pas vers des tractations plus larges. Reste à savoir si, au-delà de la cordialité affichée, les ambitions politiques sauront s’accorder.

With less than a month to Cameroon’s presidential election scheduled for October 12, 2025, political maneuvering is in full swing. On Thursday, September 11, opposition leader Maurice Kamto of the MRC — excluded from the race — hosted Bello Bouba Maïgari, president of the UNDP and a presidential candidate, at his Yaoundé residence.



According to Kamto, the meeting took place “in a cordial atmosphere,” with Bello Bouba accompanied by two of his close collaborators. While no official details of the discussions were released, the timing raises questions.



Many Cameroonians have recently called for a coalition between Kamto, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, and Bello Bouba Maïgari to challenge the ruling camp. This encounter may mark the beginning of broader negotiations. Whether cordiality can translate into political alignment remains to be seen.
