BGFI Holding’s Stock Market Launch Postponed Again Amid Shareholder Dispute
The saga of BGFI Holding’s stock market debut in Central Africa takes another twist. Initially scheduled for July 15, then postponed to July 31, 2025, the listing has been delayed once again. In a press release issued on July 28, Central Africa’s leading banking group announced a pending revised timetable, leaving investors in suspense.
Shareholder Tensions Rise
The decision follows opposition from a group of minority shareholders, led by Christian Kerangall, who holds a 23% stake. They argue that the timing is inappropriate due to ongoing governance changes, following the appointment of Henri-Claude Oyima—former BGFI president—as Gabon’s Minister of State.
Faced with management’s determination to proceed, dissenting shareholders took legal action. "To ensure transparency for all stakeholders, the board of directors, in agreement with COSUMAF, has decided to await the outcome of legal proceedings," BGFI Holding stated.
125.8 Billion FCFA at Stake
The operation, managed by BGFI Bourse, involved the sale of 1,573,536 shares (10% of capital) at 80,000 FCFA each, aiming to raise 125.8 billion FCFA. This capital boost was meant to strengthen the Gabonese banking giant’s equity before its official listing on the BVMAC.
For now, investors must wait. The group promises an update "very soon" on the new schedule—a delay that may only be the beginning.
