Massacre in Komanda: 40 Killed in Brutal AFD Attack, Church Targeted
Horror struck again in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). On Sunday night, fighters from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) unleashed terror in the village of Komanda, Ituri, leaving behind a grim toll: over 40 civilians dead, including 20 worshippers brutally murdered inside a church during nighttime prayers.
The attackers, notorious for their atrocities in the region, also torched public buildings and homes, reducing entire sections of the village to ashes. In response to this barbarity, Congolese and Ugandan forces, deployed under a military cooperation agreement, have launched a manhunt to neutralize the perpetrators.
The ADF, an extremist group formed in Uganda in 1995, has intensified its attacks in the DRC since 2003, targeting both military and civilians. Despite two years of joint operations between Kinshasa and Kampala, the faction continues to wreak havoc.
The international community remains silent, as survivors in Komanda mourn their dead. When will peace return to Ituri?
