Avec un total de 19 médailles récoltées, dont 8 en or, 3 en argent et 8 en bronze, les Lions de l’haltérophilie ont porté haut les couleurs du vert-rouge-jaune.



Parmi les grands artisans de cette performance historique, Ngouanom Junior a particulièrement crevé l’écran. L’athlète, engagé dans la catégorie des -89 kg, a signé un triplé doré en raflant trois médailles d’or, confirmant ainsi son statut de valeur montante de la discipline sur le continent africain.



Autre belle satisfaction du camp camerounais, Ngaina Junior, engagé chez les -96 kg, a décroché une médaille de bronze, ajoutant son nom à la longue liste des médaillés de la compétition.



Ce bilan impressionnant vient souligner le travail de fond réalisé par la Fédération Camerounaise d’Haltérophilie et la volonté constante des athlètes de hisser le Cameroun au sommet de l’élite africaine. Weightlifting – 2025 African Senior Championship: Cameroon Shines in Mauritius with 19 Medals, Including 8 Gold!

Team Cameroon delivered a powerful performance at the African Senior Weightlifting Championship, which wrapped up this Monday, April 28, in Moka, Mauritius. The nation’s lifters walked away with an impressive total of 19 medals—8 gold, 3 silver, and 8 bronze—marking one of the best outings in recent years for the green-red-yellow.



Leading the charge was Ngouanom Junior, who dominated the -89 kg category by snatching up three gold medals, asserting himself as a rising force in African weightlifting.



In the -96 kg category, Ngaina Junior also made Cameroon proud, clinching a bronze medal after a fierce contest with the continent’s best.



This outstanding haul is a reflection of the serious work being done by the Cameroonian Weightlifting Federation and the determination of the athletes to fly the national flag high on the continental stage.



In a sport still fighting for broader recognition in the country, this triumph in Mauritius is a bold statement. With continued support and investment, the future of Cameroonian weightlifting looks bright.
