Recalé de la présidentielle d’octobre 2025, qu’il qualifie d’« exclusion arbitraire » orchestrée par la coalition RDPC–ELECAM–Conseil constitutionnel, Maurice Kamto, candidat du MANIDEM, a livré une pensée profonde qui résonne comme un avertissement moral et politique.
« Il est des moments où votre conscience vous parle très fort. Ne l’étouffez pas. Tendez-lui une oreille attentive. Car, il n’y a aucun jugement humain ou divin dont le verdict ne vous est annoncé d’avance par votre conscience. Chercher des excuses pour se soustraire aux injonctions de sa conscience, c’est choisir de subir les tourments d’un interminable procès dans son for intérieur, qui aboutit toujours à une condamnation sans appel. De l’enfer où votre conscience trahie vous plonge, on n’en sort jamais », a-t-il déclaré.
Cette sortie intervient dans un contexte politique tendu, où la transparence du processus électoral camerounais reste vivement contestée par l’opposition et une partie de la société civile. Pour ses soutiens, la mise à l’écart de Kamto révèle une manœuvre visant à verrouiller la compétition au profit du parti au pouvoir.
Alors que le pays se prépare à une élection cruciale, la pensée de Maurice Kamto, teintée de philosophie et d’alerte citoyenne, interpelle les Camerounais sur la valeur de la conscience comme ultime juge face à l’injustice.

“There are moments when your conscience speaks to you very loudly. Do not silence it. Listen carefully. For there is no human or divine judgment whose verdict is not already announced to you by your conscience. Seeking excuses to escape its injunctions is choosing to endure the torment of an endless inner trial, which always leads to a final condemnation. From the hell where your betrayed conscience throws you, there is no escape,” he declared.
This statement comes amid a tense political atmosphere, with Cameroon’s electoral process under sharp criticism from opposition voices and civil society. For Kamto’s supporters, his exclusion is proof of a system designed to secure power for the ruling party.
As the nation approaches a pivotal election, Kamto’s words resonate as both a philosophical lesson and a civic call to conscience in the face of injustice.
