Transparency International confirme n'avoir aucune mission internationale d'observation des élections au Cameroun. Un récent reportage télévisé présentant des individus décrits comme travaillant pour Transparency International est faux et faux.

«Les personnes répertoriées dans le rapport n'ont aucune affiliation avec Transparency International», a déclaré Patricia Moreira, directrice générale de Transparency International. «Nous n'avons pas envoyé de mission internationale d'observation des élections au Cameroun. Notre section locale au Cameroun a mis en place un mécanisme de rapport destiné au grand public et a travaillé avec un réseau de citoyens pour signaler les irrégularités éventuelles à la section. Cependant, aucune de ces activités ne fait partie d'une mission d'observation électorale officielle. "

Une tentative délibérée d'usurper l'identité de Transparency International ou de sciemment décrire des individus non affiliés comme des employés du mécanisme de surveillance de la corruption est totalement inacceptable.

En cette période critique pour la démocratie au Cameroun, Transparency International et Transparency International Cameroon exhortent tous les partis politiques et les médias à agir de manière responsable et intègre dans leurs communications autour de l'élection et de ses résultats.

INTERNATIONAL ELECTION OBSERVERS IN CAMEROON ARE NOT AFFILIATED WITH TRANSPARENCY INTERNATIONAL
Transparency International confirms that it has no international election observation mission in Cameroon. A recent television report featuring individuals described as working for Transparency International is false and untrue.
“The individuals shown in the report have no affiliation with Transparency International,” said Patricia Moreira, Managing Director of Transparency International. “We have not sent an international election observation mission to Cameroon. Our local chapter in Cameroon has established a reporting mechanism for use by the general public, and worked with a network of citizens to report possible irregularities to the chapter. However, none of these activities are part of an official election observation mission.”
A deliberate attempt to impersonate Transparency International or knowingly portray non-affiliated individuals as employees of the anti-corruption watchdog is completely unacceptable. At this critical time for democracy in Cameroon, Transparency International and Transparency International Cameroon urge all parties in politics and media to act responsibly and with integrity in their communications around the election and its results.
