The military lionesses will today face Brazil in the semi finals of the maiden edition of the military feminine football world cup currently taking place in France.

The military lionesses clinched their qualification ticket by beating the Netherlands 4-1 in the third and last group game on Tuesday. In their first outing in the competition, Cameroon trounced Canada 3-0 before bowing to the host country, France 0-6 in the second group game. The third group game was therefore a must win game for Cameroon in order to maintain their stay in the competition, which they did with panache, walloping the Netherlands 4-1 with Agnes Nkada scoring a hat-trick.

New Out-fit for Lions

Prior to the encounter against France, the German equipment company, Puma on Monday revealed the new jersey of the Lions. The new jersey which the lions won during the encounter with France respects the traditional colours of Cameroon. That is, a green jersey with yellow stripes around the neck and the logo of the Lions and that of Fecafoot around the chest. Faint white lines also design the outfit by the sides and front of the jersey.

Black Bands for Fallen Athletes

During the friendly match against France, the indomitable lions wore a black band in hommage to their fallen team mate, Patrick Ekeng and all other fallen sports men and women. This was in addition to the traditional minute of silence observed in honour of the dead. Coincidentally, a Cameroonian lady, Marie Justine Owona Mekongo gave up the ghost during that same encounter. She suffered from a heart attack when Cameroon got the second equaliser in the game and joined the heavenly choir shortly after.

Refresher Course for Kinesitheurapeutes

The professional football league is organising a refresher course for kinesitherapeut on the theme; “training in first aid and cardio-pulmonary reanimation for health professionals involved in the championships”. The two day seminar which began yesterday and will end today is facilitated by Dr Nguidjol Moise.
