Matches counting for the 16th finals of the cup of Cameroon took place all over the country on Sunday with some stunning results recorded. Only six League one clubs appear among the 16 surviving clubs of the competition dominated by clubs from the inferior League Two and regional championships. The six surviving elite clubs are Bamboutos, UMS of Loum, Astres, Lion Blessé, Apejes and Panthere.

Bamboutos picked up the 8th final ticket by edging another League One club; Cosmos of Mbam 5-4 in post match penalties after both sides were tied at one goal each way after the regular time of play. UMS, who emerged 12th in the national championship, stunned the runners up, Union 1-0 to sail through to the round of sixteen. Meanwhile, Astres logically had an easy walk over a Regional league club, Botafogo of Buea 3-1 to clinch an 8th final spot.

Lion Blessé edged little known Menoua of Dschang 1-0. Apejes on the contrary humiliated their fellow brothers from the Centre Region, Canon 2-0 to accede to the next stage of the competition. Meanwhile, Panthere had the upper hand in their confrontation with Yong sports of Bamenda. Unisport was humiliated by little known Stade Renard of Melong. In late 16th final match yesterday, Coton Sport, the defending champion, beat Eding 4-1.
