Boko Haram militants despite continuous military pressure on them have persisted in killing innocent Nigerians notably in Borno State. The latest attack occurred on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 when a large group of the terrorist fighters fleeing a military offensive on their camp in Nganzai District opened fire on four cars outside Jingalta Village, some 70 kilometres north of the Borno State capital, Maiduguri, killing all the 20 passengers after which they set the vehicles ablaze  and burnt the village, Press TV reported, citing local sources.

"We received information of an attack by Boko Haram militants on four cars near Jingalta village where they shot dead all the occupants of the vehicles before setting the cars ablaze," stated Babakura Kolo, a member of an area vigilante staff aiding the army in preventing the Takfiri group in Maiduguri is quoted as saying. Mr Kolo further said, "The Takfiri militants were fleeing a military operation against one of their enclaves in the area around 9:30 am (0830GMT) when they came across the vehicles on the highway and opened fire on them.” After the incident, Boko Haram militants reportedly driving pick-up trucks and motorcycles, looted and burnt the entire village of Jingalta. The residents had already fled following the attack. The death toll was approved by Jibir Hassan, a commercial bus driver. “When we arrived at Jingalta village, we found it smouldering, with everything completely burnt and just outside the village we saw bodies sprawled by the roadside, 20 of them in all. Near the bodies were charred remains of four cars, still smouldering,” Hassan is quoted as saying.

The macabre acts of Boko Haram militants in the area have persisted. The militants reportedly killed five travelers and injured another in a nearby village last Monday. They kill travelers in the area on a regular basis, reports say.
