The population mobilised to showcase massive reception of trophy on the streets of Bamenda today February 22.

The trophy of the 2017 CAF Africa Cup of Nations lifted in Gabon by the indomitable Lions of Cameroon is expected in Bamenda today Wednesday February 22, 2017. In effect, inhabitants of metropolitan Bamenda and neighborhoods will be privileged to see and touch the trophy which they celebrated from a distance on the victorious night of 5th February 2017.
A press release from the North West Governor’s Office invites the population to turn out massively and celebrate the brave warriors who brought glory to the nation. The trophy and available Indomitable Lions players are expected to be received at Matazem-Santa, gateway into the North West region and driven to the neighborhood of customs junction up station. They will proceed to the New Road - Amour Mezam Junction -Foncha Street junction -Mile 4 Nkwen -Bambili Junction -University of Bamenda. From the University, they will return to Foncha Street - Mobile Nkwen -Cow Street -Miss Ngang junction - veterinary junction -Ayaba Street, T - junction -Meta Quarter -Hospital Roundabout -Ntarinkon -Mile 8 Mankon- back to Ntarinkon -fish pond hill road -Guranti Express- City Chemist Roundabout -Commercial Avenue and the grand stand.


Ahead of the event, committees have been rehearsing to ensure popular and hitch-free sojourn of the trophy in Bamenda. Celebrations marking the 10th edition of the days of physical education in Bamenda offered a moment for Governor Adolphe Lele L'Afrique to mobilise the population to file out and cheer the Indomitable Lions who inspired hope in youths with preparedness to shine in respective domains of life.


Bamenda was alive when the Indomitable Lions emerged champions of the tournament in Gabon. Shooting stars filled the skies and the streets paraded fans celebrating a squad that arrived in Gabon as underdogs but became hot favourites as the competition progressed. They celebrated another era of the nation's soccer with a new crop of stars like the tournament's brightest spot, Christian Basogog, Fabrice Ondoa, Ngadeu, and Bamenda boy Fai Collins and the refined leadership skills of team captain Moukandjo.
